Not really, but you Can buy pieces to make things for your Hot Rod. Was perusing the HAMB last week and came upon a thread asking for ideas about how to attach your Model A hood top. The one that caught my attention used narrow leather straps. Aha, well a couple days of thinking about it (procrastinating) and I've got a plan. Two ladies' faux leather belts, some picture hangers and a few aluminum rivets and I have my Model A hood top installed. About an hour of time, a few tools and 10 bucks! Low Buck or No Buck I Can Do.
Thats pretty creative guys. I see stuff all the time when internet browsing showing hot rod related parts from Wally Mart and go "yeh right", I can't ever even find the things in the store that you think would be there but are on their website. Hey, for some real entertainment Google "People of Walmart". The way some people are willing to present themselves in public is unbelievable.
Love the idea, but I learned my lesson about the processed leather belts that sell cheap. they would start falling apart within a month of trying to hold my pants up over my belly. A leather guy explained that it WAS leather, but made of tiny scraps compressed together, with all the strength of, well, not much. So I bought a $50 belt made all out of one cow. I could pull hemis with trannys out with that belt. Not even a mark after 2 years. Probably common knowledge, but I'm not too bright, so I learned something that day. Your car deserves shit from only one cow.
When my pal Dave upholstered the seats in the wagon he added a little more padding to the top of the back seat, when folded down to make the cargo area bigger the bottom pins punched/pinched a hole in the brand new material. Thinking out of the box Dave said don't worry, I got you covered. The solution was found at Wallmart in the housewares department in the form of to Oneida Soup spoons he shortened the handle and attached it to the wood under the cushion. To the casual observer it looks like a factory slide to help aim the pin into the holes. HRP
