As I get closer to doing the dreaded bodywork and paint, I could use some photoshop inspiration. Managed to find these black bucket seats from Princess Auto so the interior is going to be black. The red wheels, engine and windshield frame are from a previous idea but I'd like to keep them since I'm lazy. Could you "paint" the car hugger orange, lose the sunvisor, and add a white/black/white pinstripe along the beltline? Also, black roof. Thank you for your help. IMG_1064.JPG

Or even the whole running board

  7. You´re having a perspective malfunction.
Look at the bed side on your rendering. At the cab back, it´s well inside the lines of the cab. But then as we go backward, the bed sides are suddenly outside the rear wheels, which appear to be in line with the front wheels, judging by the steps at least. It´s all gone a bit MC Escher.

So in order to build this, the rear end would have to be a good foot and a half narrower than the front. Might look a bit peculiar.

  8. Apparently the only malfunction here is your inability to fathom what is going on. The front of the bed tapers in where it meets the body and the front of the cab on the stock truck also tapers in to approximately the same width also the concept vehicle has no "steps" If you look at the stock PU you can see that the rear wheels are further out from the center line of the vehicle than the front . Where your coming up with a foot and a half different is beyond me and I'm sure someone with enough expertise in fabrication could build one pretty close to what I have pictured . I have seen examples of you work on here that make absolutely no sense both aesthetically and mechanically but I figure it's just a concept and it's up to the builder to work out the problems and don't feel the need to criticize. Apparently that is not one of your qualities.

  9. Thanks a ton guys!!! You have certainly addressed my big question...can these parts be melded together into something cool. I think from all the renderings the answer is a resounding yes!! Heaven knows I don’t need another project...I still haven’t made any progress on the Model A you guys did for me last summer, but it’s hard for me not to collect parts for a cool project when they present themselves. I sure do appreciate yall’s help. In my mind I had a radical look going on, but from James and Moose’s efforts, mild and sneaky may be the more appropriate approach. Funny, both your guys chose shades of light blue...before this hair brained idea popped up this week, I was thinking a light blue truck would be a cool look for this cab. LOL

  10. Jesus, talk about thin skinned...why so angry? I´m trying to offer advice....and i feel like i´m qualified to do so, since i´m a technical illustrator and have been doing this for decades.

You realise that your red line proves nothing? It could show that the rear wheels are further apart, but it could just as well show that they are lower than the front wheels - in other words that the truck is raked forwards - or some combination of the two.

Absolutely no sense? Really? Then you´d better post them right here and explain exactly what makes "absolutely no sense", or I´m calling BS.
    I´ll wait.

Hold up. Let's step back and reset this whole thing.

This thread is an amazing resource and source of inspiration (and recreation) to those of us who follow it regularly.

I am amazed at the selfless work by those who contribute regularly. The last thing we want to see is that dynamic disturbed.

Close your browsers for the night (or day, depending on where you are on this blue marble) and let's get back to the good work we all enjoy so much.

    Thanks and goodnight.

  14. What do people think of Photoshop Elements? Is it a useful software or is it necessary to get the subscription to do anything meaningful?

    @themoose @James D

I know things can get heated up when people are criticized or misunderstood. I have spent a whole life under the microscope of advertising critics. This should be a place where we can freely post our ideas and work. Yes, sometimes the criticisms can be harsh or short sighted but this is only make believe. We do our best to portray our ideas through the medium of photoshop. It's not perfect but that's the challenge for most of us. To make it a real as we can and bring our vision to life.

You two are unquestionably the more talented of the those who contribute, and am amazed by some of the work you've produced and undoubtedly you're doing it selfishly to help others. There's nothing in it for any of us who contribute to this sight other than to show the work. What most people don't realize is how long some of these requests take to bring to fruition and in the process of doing the work we become sensitive to the efforts and time we put into it.

It's a new year and let's all agree to disagree and take the criticisms with a grain of salt. If either of you are ever down south the first round of drinks are on me. We rednecks know a thing or two about surrendering.

Charlie, I've never worked with photoshop elements but would think that anything from photoshop is well thought out. None of this is easy to use but it's not that difficult either. It's just a matter of putting the time into it.

One I did of my Packard several years ago, it was completely stock but I always wondered how it would with a little drop... 37onbkgrd.jpg

I use Photoshop Elements 8. Its older but still works well for me, and seems a bit more user friendly than newer versions.

Thank you Moose. That helps a lot. Unfortunately it still looks too cute to me. Need to make it look more aggressive without forking out money.
