Must be as hard for them to ''let go'' their horse draw carriage as it will be for us, or the next generation, to let go our ''fuel feed'' vehicule...

Swi66 posted this picture a few pages back. I believe it is a 1906ish Model N. Cool with the runabout spelled out on the radiator. I believe (emphasis on belief) 49271321_2091269230953297_2906264099866279936_n.jpg that is James Couzens (Ford's accountant) behind the wheel and Henry as a passenger.

Rob Williams, he bought the car in 1959. Rob is well known in the historic racing scene with vintage formula cars.
The car was later restored by Rob and featured in the 500th issue of NZ Hot Rod Magazine [June 2009]

Yes he was an amazing test driver, like having "telemetry at your fingertips". All the tyre companies used his skills which is how he got his foot into the door with Ford [to win LeMans with Bruce McLaren]
Most of Amons problems were reliability with the cars, yet he was surprisingly gentle on machinery.
This was during the era when a car should break-down when it crossed the finish line or it was over-engineered.

When he "jumped ship" to a lesser team it sealed his fate in racing.
But Chris had his family dairy farm waiting for him back in NZ ,so racing was just a young man "letting off steam" to him [ but what a class way to do that!]

If you have never been to Bakersfield for the March Meet, you need to go at least once!
