    Like “melting clock”?
He definitely did paint with what appears to be chrome effect or like acid before Leary came along.
    All this chrome is trippy.

Lol.. I think what's pretty neat about something that's a long-term build is how things can change over the course of putting the car together. I think over the past 10 years as I put different cars together and have done build threads on here, it's also fun for me to use this as a sort of a documentation process so I can go back down the road and take a look and remember how much fun I had building the car. I was fortunate enough recently to stumble upon I really fantastic engine guy who is a friend of a friend type of person that is doing the machine work very reasonable. I figured since I was going all out with many other parts of the build, I would at least have the motor looked at internally to avoid having to rip it out down the road if something was missed.

Surprisingly enough, the chrome guy, although he is doing fabulous work, is relatively inexpensive if the prep work is done. Shock mounts for $40 a piece, pitman arm $35... etc. I do upholstery work on the side for the guy does my polishing, so in the long run everything has been working out and I've been able to get a lot done because I'm doing a bit of horse-trading.

I guess the one thing that I haven't talked much about in this build thread is all the parts trading I've been doing, and also trading time for time with a lot of these guys ( punching louvers, upholstery, etc) which has really helped with saving a few bucks here and there.

Not using the brass lights. They will go on something else down the road. Many times over the years when I built cars the direction of the build takes twists and turns, that's the fun of putting it together.

ART Metals in Ohio makes some really excellent quality front kingpin bearings that they plate and put into a nice kingpin kit that is all dolled up too IMG_20190111_204704_285.jpeg

Started assembly on the front end today. The axle has very thick chrome plating on it so a couple of the holes needed to be dressed and cleaned out for stuff to go together. Koz gave me a hand cleaning out the Kingpin and king pin lock holes and we put everything together. Definitely a two-person job when things are shiny. Looking good so far. Your shop looks like a lotta grinding, sanding, polishing going on. Great results!

Finished this up yesterday for my trunk. This was a parts handle. Peeled the skin off and straightened the face as best as possible, made a new back collar piece, and a waterfall style base. A polish and some backround paint and it will be back from the dead. I will make matching waterfall pieces for my inside door/window handles when I sew up the interior. Gutting the doors tonight of the latches and regulators, bagging and labeling hardware, and finishing up sanding them down. I was going to try to get away with not blasting these and just having the body shell done of the car, but I dont know. Going to have lots of time tonight getting what's left of the paint off the edges and back IMG_20190117_192533_896.jpeg IMG_20190117_192533_894.jpeg IMG_20190117_192533_897.jpeg 20190117_190340.jpeg

After decades of sanding and grinding stuff to clean it, I am now a convert to sandblasting. I use my blasting cabinet inside my shop a couple times a week. And my brother lives on an acreage where we can now blast stuff outside when the weather allows. No more filling the shop and my lungs with rust dust. And the end result is better as the metal is cleaned way down into the pores.

Last of the suspension parts came back from plate tonight. Hopefully I'll have a rolling chassis by the end of the weekend. 20190118_181642.jpeg

Wishbone to axle spacers made up in the lathe. They sell steel ones but nobody makes them in stainless. IMG_20190119_105925_288.jpeg

Took a few minutes this morning also and Polished up my handle. I sanded it down last night with some really fine paper and then hit it with the wheel today. IMG_20190119_132650_504.jpeg

Top insert has been swapped out for smooth. Is this a permanent or swappable item depending on mood for change? The exhaust block offs are a nice change from the blank typical style...it all looks amazing Jerry...;)
