That is a Dade County Fl tag,that photo was likely taken at"Lion Country Safari".Rode through the place many times with Mom,Dad,and my sister.However,convertibles were not permitted due to the lion population.So,this was more than likely a publicity photo.

BTW, Rootie, have you ever seen a photo of Harlan Fike with one of his cars? Several years ago I was at a photo shoot with Parnelli (and son P.J.) and I asked him how come I had never seen Harlan in any of the photos of him racing the Fike cars. He thought about it and then said that he didn't remember Mr. Fike ever being at any track with he and Joe. He said that Fike was a super nice guy that liked to help out young drivers; especially Arizona/California drivers like Davis, McCluskey, Weiler, Jones, and others.

Surely, Mr. Fike would have be in attendance at Phoenix races at the very least but I don't think I've ever seen any photos.

Can't say as I have, but I really don't know what he looked like if I did. Not that unusual, back then it seems some of the "money men" kept a low profile for some reason. Another good example was Howard Keck, I've only seen very few pics with him in it. In fact I recall reading that he wasn't even at Indy in 54 when Vuky won.

 

I never saw Harlan, only Joe Pittman with the fike cars. I never saw a picture of Bob Estes either.
