I love the taillight idea, that is way cool. You will be very pleased with the 401, but I suggest switching to a SP/ST 400 transmission. Since you already have an open drive frame, that´s an easy swap. Not that there is anything wrong with a well working Dynaflow, but the converters are a PITA to rebuild if necessary and their performance is nothing compared to the 400s...The 3 speed automatics deliver the torque a lot better than the sluggish dynaflow, and torque is what you need in such a heavy float.

 

Picked up the Thunderbird buckets today. BIG shout out to Sancho for picking them up and holding them till I could get up to get them. Thanks again man.
I was going to use a set of 60's GM buckets but like the slightly "space age" style of these better.

Still working on taillights but thanks to a buddy the Buick has some fancy footwear on the front.

Mounted new tracks on the buckets for the Buick. These are universal mounts and sliders from Speedway. Simple and inexpensive, recomended.

 

I knew there was some old damage behind where I was mounting the Polara taillights so I ground it off and founf the quarter was somewhat flattened. Roughed it out round again and helped a lot with the fit on the new light. Felt good enough about it to tack it in

great job G V , at first I didn't grasp what you were doing with the cone shapes.
Now it all makes sense.
The Moose did a good pshop too.
I agree, those lights look better on the Buick than on the Dodge.
That'll be an attraction at the car shows for sure.

 

Yea, I didn't end up using as much of the old headlight buckets as I thought I would, but by the time I got it lined up and fitted this was all that was needed. You kind of make this up as you go along. I'm pleased with the way it is looking.
Bill, when I get the brakes finished and can pull it out of the garage I will get better shots.

Been awhile since an update. Worked today on a center console idea. Think it's going to work. Using an early Econoline engine cover narrowed as the basis.

Mr. Gordon I need your assistance! I am converting my B60 to bucket seats and need assistance with the mounting set up. I will be mounting a pair of 63 Pontiac Grand Prix buckets and trying to determine the best and most cost efficient way. I notice you used the universal mounts, how did you mount to angled floor? What other modification was needed? Any information you can provide and pictures is greatly appreciated.

 

I actually scrapped the tubular mount and went with simple angle iron mounts. Will try to get pics next time I am in the shop. Still not totally happy with the height so I will be back at it soon.

An ST400 from a '65 would be a great swap. A TH 400 is not a direct bolt on for a nailhead, as it does not have the BOP bellhousing bolt pattern.

 

I made them.
I actually have three SP400s , just need to get one rebuilt.

Been awhile since update. This '60 had been sat on a '64 running gear before I aquired it. Great idea but the sway bar didn't clear the trunk pan. Got cleatrance now just have to fill the hole and make it look good.

Well, don't know if it counts as progress or not but I aquired a pair of 2701 Autolite mirrors which I think are going on the Buick.
Been trying to get the T back together so the custom project had just sat this summer.
