well well, ugly but just another one of those days and got a little done on the other head, now to pull this bitch apart and see what else we have to enjoy........
Nice, I'll give it a try. I have 14 of those... Did you preheat the head before welding? Argon or mix?
welded the outside before the inside which preheated the inside, worked well, Argon, Miller 200 Syncrowave, now on to da sleeve............ Ug
Looking good Carl . . . get that sucker back on the track! Hey - was out of town when you left a message, just saw it yesterday - give me a call when you have time!
update...... cleaned up a little took old sleeve out. Hammer and chisel method .......... guess i figured out wha happened, looks like block rock didn't rock block...... will fill voids with aluminum this time but bearings and lower look great so thas a good thing....... on to new sleeve bore and hone and put er back together!!!!
Oh shit did I say there were two sleeves cracked??? another place where block rock failed me........plus crack repairs ug this shit sucks hole for aluminum fill and some cast welding............think maybe its time for new block next time.....................
Keep on keepin' on Carl! Ain't retirement great? I like the gear reduction drive on your engine stand, need to do that to mine.
As long as you are filling it up with Hard Block anyway. I wonder if it would be better to hole saw 3 or 4 holes in the outside of the water jacket to get a better shot at filling all the nooks and crannies?
probably would have been better Rich, but block isn't worth it have another block ready to go, just need to port it bore it ect will do all that while using this one one more time.......... Yesterday was a good day, hope to start her today........
Nice repair job, disappointed to learn this happened after all the beautiful craftsmanship on the first build. I hope the rebuild is going to do the job for you. I'm looking to hear it run. Bob
