So idk if you guys ever check out industrial auctions but that’s where I got my huge parts washer and air comoressor. Well Friday I scored a 50’s (I think) forklift. 5000lb lifting capacity. Purrs and everything works. Nailed it down for 127 bucks. No more using the cherry picker to lift ****! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nearly destroyed my trailer hauling this thing. Gotta replace some boards now [emoji1787] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That’s what I was kinda thinking. And it’s got a headache rack so I won’t die in it. Maybe I’ll take some of the spare belts I got and install one to keep those doc bills in check lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What is it? Make and model ? What engines in it? It’s incredible what you will end up using it for. So handy Just remember what ever the lifting capacity is the truck will weigh almost double! Watch your fingers and toes as these things like to crush and pinch. Not being a negative Nancy , just be mindful of your pink parts is all !
Not sure the year, but I saw the sixties ones and it’s gotta be older, it’s a Allison chalmers fl-50-24 lp Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My building was just a shell when I bought the place, so since I had big plans for it the first thing I bought was a used 2000 lb forklift. Mine is battery powered, but I have lifted well more than 2000lbs with it. I bought the engine pulling attachment as well as a set of fork extensions. I spent months standing on a pallet on the forklift putting up the bright white metal, doing wiring, painting, etc. Best money I ever spent! Hey bill, you got links for the engine hoist your talking about?? That would be handy. Ya I like how small and compact it is, takes up less room than the cherry picker ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have the forklift attachment for the loader on my John Deere 1025R, it spends more time on the tractor than the bucket. It doesn’t have the capacity of a real forklift, but it is Four Wheel Drive and is damn handy. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I think I’ll restore this and eventually sell it. I’d like to have a track skidsteer. Save up for that. Would be handy here on the farm. But till then I’m gonna have fun with this old girl Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Shoot I was thinking the same thing if it was locked up or totally junk. I would probably get 3-400$ for s****? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not sure the laws down where you are. But up here in Ontario if that thing can p*** an LDI ( lifting device inspection) Does not piss fluids and oils every where And runs half decent it’s worth at least a g-note that would be to a shop or very low use type business. Heck once you own s forklift they are super handy all the time.
I suppose I didn’t think about that. I don’t know anyone now that you mention it, that has one around here in their big shops. So a fully functioning forklift I would guess would be worth that. Not to mention, fully restored! At least nice to look at and what not. Figure I’d throw a new seal in the ram for the mast, and rubber on it. It runs super smooth Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Google TVH HELMAR PANACEA these guys supply the forklift aftermarket and you will find everything you need. As far as hydraulic seals, pull the seals out and go down to your local hydraulics rebuilder WAYYYYYU cheaper then getting complete rebuild kits from the dealer or aftermarket
I was looking for a good source for parts. I’ll take your advice and do that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’d like to repaint it, but allis has so many orange colors. was thinking the dark is the period correct color Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wonder if there are Forklift clubs & websites, if you find another it is the basis for a collection. Bob
You don't like the patina? LOL After you have a forklift there is no going back... This is mine. It's got a 4-cyl Perkins diesel in it. This was my old one, I was always getting it stuck...just like it is here...LOL I'll tell you what though, I didn't get either of those for $127, you lucky dog you! I'm green with envy. Propane lifts are great, if it's purring you're good to go, but the converters can cause some havoc and the diaphragms get clogged. If you can DIY it's cheap. But I can tell you from experience it's not cheap to get someone to work on a forklift, they even charge travel time. That holds true for most all of the forklift service in my area. The good news is they have small gas engines with a converter on them, so they're basically like a gas engine car.
Jim Here is a link to the one from Northern Tool. https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200651812_200651812 There are two options for lifting cap. on this same ad. I believe this is where I bought mine from about 13 years ago! The only difference in mine is it uses a chain instead of a strap to keep it from sliding off the forks. I have used it many times & never had a problem. I don't even own an engine hoist anymore...gave it to a friend. Congratulations Great price and one of the handiest machines in the shop. We had a Namco 1957 era with a electric change over. It was great in a small shop to lift frames ,body’s and engines.
my buddy and i were just talking about that this am, someone has to have a forklift club or museum lol
