I have a 1929 body and I’ve seen Ford sedan’s like that be put on T bucket frames on line but is that possible. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Anything can be done , doesn't mean it's always right. Put that A body on an. A frame or pony up for a 32 frame...do it right. PLEASE..... .Mitch
if the wheelbase was right... why not? but as said above the best frame is the one your body came with. around here a bare A frame is 250$ there is so much aftermarket support for them that it is the best option.
A T frame isn't very strong with any kind of engine but a T or A engine. Unless you have a TT. Don't start off on the wrong foot. Start with at least an A frame or make one out new stock.
Absolutely You can set that body on something like this. You'll need to add body mount brackets and tabs You could put anything on a simple frame like this
2 X 4 X 1/8th steel rect. tubing. Get (3) 10' lengths, and lay out to 'A' dimensions. A vee cut equal to 3 hacksaw bladewith midships will make the 'matched pair' of side bends. Curve the frame horn extensions w/sideface cuts, bend the top down to fill. You'll also want to cut & vee the frame horns so they end up parallel, if I recall correctly. (approx. 2 days labor, plus cost of steel) For front X-member, lay it down, flush w/base, mount rad. on it. The mid & rear X-members are vertical to meet side rails.
If going this way, here's all the dimensions you need. I did something similar but used a old Model A frame and cut off the front X member at the back and used the X member along with the frame horns and all the brackets. http://www.wescottsauto.com/WebCatalog/Tech/FrameDiagram1928-31.pdf
If we are talking stock T frame for one it is a wiggly bastard and then the wheel base is too short ny about 3". Could it be done? Well beefing the T frame and stretching it in the rear are options but you would still have a sub standard setup. A deuce frame would be an upgrade and a T frame would be a down grade.
I wouldn't do it. As said by porknbeaner, very weak and short. A lot of work and still substandard. Just my opinion though.
