    No, I didn't say that. Hank just said the true story was not what the mythology stated. I trusted Ray because he was very close to Hank.

    Although the photo states that it was taken in 1935, the fire apparatus is much older than that, probably built in the early 1920's. Many Fire Departments spent money "modernizing" their equipment in the 1930's, rather than putting out bids for new equipment. Most fire engines built in the 1920's did not have windshields. These were added later, as well as replacing the original solid rubber tires with pneumatic tires as shown here.
