Going east of Albuquerque, there a quite of few stretches of the original 66 that you can use. This particular piece has been realigned some and is part of the Interstate nowadays... but the frontage road for I-40 is being considered Historical Rt. 66. Today.JPG

Thanks Joseph, info is much appreciated. The plan is to be in Albuquerque the last week of July and attend the Rt.66 car show on that weekend. Not just going for the show, but going for the sights. We went to visit relatives of my wife a couple years ago in a town named Glorieta just south of Santa Fe and had a great time, even have pondered thoughts of moving to NM.

Here's Andy Granatelli at Indianapolis in 1948. I believe the car was originally one of the 1935 Miller-Fords that were factory backed. He crashed this car in Practice.

I've wondered just how Granatelli managed to get approved to drive the car as aside from his exhibition runs in rocket powered show cars I don't think he had much racing experience.

    Thanks for sharing, Rootie!

Makes a mud fence look good:) But consider it was just 19 years later and his car came within a few laps of winning the 500 and was probably the most radical high-tech race car ever to that point.
