The car is all blocked now. My dad is an amazing sanding machine! I swear he blocked over 90% of this thing himself. I did get the rockers and the tail lights though He decided it was time to lay down some paint, so now the charcoal gray side sweeps are on. Should have plenty of time for the clear to harden up before we mask them off to paint the rest of it.
Hell...Some of my BEST FRIENDS are snakes! But...Shhhhhhh...the black paint's goin' on...listen...the HVLP gun has a 'serpentine hiss'... Sounds like Water moccasins...
Absolutely the most beautiful cars Chrysler ever built were the 57's and 58's, and you;re really doing this one justice. I noticed in post #190 where you are running it through the gears that the oil gauge didn't show much pressure. I know you've driven it quite a bit so you must have some pressure. Have you ever checked it?
Good eye. It keeps fine pressure. I had an issue with a bad stock line for the oil pressure gauge. So while a replacement was on the way, I had the line blocked off.
Good deal. The 392 that I have is on the edge of having too much pressure, 80 psi on a cold start but it drops to a reasonable level once it warms up. I'm always afraid that the hex drive will snap on it when it's cold.
Just read the whole thread. I hadn't realized that your avatar wasn't a completed car; your description of the changes you've made is extremely interesting. I like everything you've done; I'm sure that the completed car will be excellent. I hope to see the car one day!
is this the one that some biker(s) wound up with in the '70's. It sat under a carport at their house. It was a '60's custom & had a lift-off roof. I imagine it took 4 guys to lift it on & off the car. I saw it in a magazine picture & the writer said it wasn't for sale back then.......not sure if Chrysler, Plymouth? I think it was a 'bubble type C-post car
I have a great update this time! My dad went totally nuts on the paint. He is truly the hero on this car! I'll let the pictures tell the story. THANKS DAD!! And while he was doing all this real work, I cleaned up some wiring and started getting the door panels together.

Craig - I think you're thinking of Clif Inman's '57 Chrysler customized by Joe Wilhelm ... as my father purchased it from a biker in Fresno. Note however that it didn't have a lift-off roof ...
