    Be sure to use 265 intake gaskets, Fel Pro MS9200B; you can see how well the gaskets that were used were at risk of not sealing well (327 gaskets?). Also, remove the tin cover underneath the 2 X 4 intake manifold; these manifolds were thin and porous, especially in the heat crossover. They actually can burn through, and can cause all kinds of problems depending on how bad it gets (engine fire, oil usage, exhaust smoke, etc). Neat car and time capsule; why can't I find something like this, not that I can afford it now anyways (I have to help support our adult daughter)? I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

    I bought a gasket set for a 265...hopefully it is correct...what is that shield under the carbs suppose to do?...Thanks for the info Butch..

    yep..and had to develop the pictures they took before they could send them in the mail to the magazine...nothing got done fast...but I think people were happier back then...or at least it seemed that way

    had to remove the top, and the headliner had let loose from the bows,so it had to come down to be repaired,which led to most of the interior coming out for a tune up...should be able to save the majority of the original interior...it also needs a new roof wood kit..     If anyone out there has a pair of older chrome rims that would fit the look of the sedan I'm looking to buy a set..15"x7 with chevy pattern..I need to match the fronts IMG_2132.JPG

    Master cylinder is completely froze up...my buddy identified it as a chevy master cylinder and pedals...will make an attempt at rebuilding this one...all the brake shoes are like new!...I'm sure I will have to rebuild all of the wheel cylinders.. IMG_2129.JPG

    heads and block/pistons all in good shape...had to clean up one valve that was rusted on the stem...so we clened them all and replaced the seals... IMG_2128.JPG IMG_2130.JPG
     
  19. That's a CRAGAR Slot and Dot steering wheel. Totally bad ass and Cherry Red. I have a few of those as does @Moriarity

    The interior is very plain Jane ...just straight black Naugahyde...I thought about changing it to white tuck n roll, but I just need to leave it as it was built I think...I don't want to start changing it

    Master cylinder and pedals are from a 49-54 Chevrolet passenger car, just so you know what to look for as far as rebuild/replacement parts.. The tin shield riveted to the underside of the intake manifold is to keep hot oil off the bottom; interesting, since they also cover the heat crossover from the heads, and I always wondered about that; keeping hot oil of of something that's there to get hot. Cast pistons are in the short block, and it looks like Power Pack heads. Solid or hydraulic cam? Has the fan been cut down? Maybe it's the angle or something, or there just was't room under the hood. If you're in need of a "better" shifter with a full length handle, I have a NOS Ansen for the old Muncie 318 transmission, same that's in your car. Ansen shifters were made by the same folks who made the floor shifters for almost all 50-70's GM cars. I also have a stock Corvette 3 speed shifter tower like yours, that your PO that has cut down, heated up, and bent, and also a flat stick Ansen shifter tower (same as the factory one but with a flat stick instead of a round one); one of those I'd probably send for shipping only. Really Neat Car! I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
