  3. I looked through every page of 5 Popular Mechanics , mags from '51 and 52, and none of the full page surplus advertisements contained any material relating to jeeps or even jeep parts. There were some 5 line ads that mentioned cars, but they were the type that were wanting you to send for a catalog.
I remember the ads for jeep parts and the complete vehicles you are referring to from the day, but maybe Those ads were only in the men's magazines of the time. I have some more to look through, and if I find something I'll post it.

I have almost every issue of Popular Mechanics, Mechanics Illustrated, and Popular Science from 1933-34 up to the late 60's....I got them from a estate sale my brother was doing... I collect old magazine ads..and I removed the ads, mainly the car and motorcycle and auto related ads, from every one of them magazines and I can honestly say the only ads that I saw jeeps or jeep parts or Harley Engines offered for sale as surplus was in small ads that outlined the edged of the pages...the half and full page surplus ads were usually tool companies or such....and they had everything but jeeps. There were also ads for surplus military Holmes wrecker beds I had a 1946 Chevy 2 1/2 ton wrecker that was equipped with one...this is one of the Harley Davidson surplus engine ads...the jeep ads are about the same... I don't have one of them handy at the moment.... 20190310_013354.jpeg 20190310_013404.jpeg

NOT a jockey shifter. A tank shift. A jockey shifter mounts directly on the trans.
