Are you sure about that, Nailhead A-V8? All my todor seats has a more straight and much heavier/thicker back rest than these, that also folds forward. These doesn’t seem A tudor to me, but they sure are kuul! Would be nice to know, what they are from... Keep ‘em kruzin! Dannerr
That’s what I was thinking. Different than my 30 Tudor seats, but super cool. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I'm partial to fenders. This car has everything I'd want. Anyone want to take a guess on what size those wheels are ????
Great to see this thread going strong 10 years later! thanks to everyone who has contributed, shared, read and enjoyed!
So they are trying to get a group of cars together for a little TROG type addition to the dirt drags at Vintage Torquefest this year. I just found out about it. With the trip to Austin, I only have 5 weeks to throw this together. Newest parts should be around 1948. M
Aiming for 40s inspired. Day 12 and it's a roller. Four and a half weeks until it needs to be a driver. Yikes.
I am new to the H.A.M.B. I loved reading this forum. Great pics and information. I started with my 1966 Mustang, but I'm slowly getting older cars to work on. My current project of many is a 1929 Ford Roadster. I want to build it as if I served in WWII and came back working in Detroit during the hot rod hay days. I don't want a theme rod, but a true hot rod built with period parts. If I can help it, there won't be any California parts on the build. Just parts from the Great Lakes area. This car will be built with the late 1940's as a foundation, but will have some modern upgrades up till the 1960's without compromising the original foundation. I can't afford a real surviving hot rod from back then, so I want to build what could have been found in an old garage or barn and then restored. The real deal parts are hard to find, but my list is almost complete as far as all of the accessories and hop up parts. Really all I need is a good body. This forum has been very helpful in planning this project. When I start the mock up process I plan on starting a thread. Thanks for all of the information and history.
You have very similar thoughts to me and my build. Mustang background, then I moved to the 1950's and now I want to build a car such that someone will ask me, were has that been setting for 60 years. My grandfather came back from WWII, but he did not build me that hot rod, so I have to build it myself, Other than some reproduction parts, due to cost constraints, I don't want any new parts either.
Welcome to H.A.M.B.. There's a lot of good info on this site. The "search" option is your best friend. A couple of subjects to stay away from. They will cause a shit storm on here. HaHa. What oil should I use in my flathead? Should I add zinc? Points or electronic?
First post, just want to say how much I'm loving this thread - excellent prewar history here! Could you all direct me toward books on this subject? Mainly 30's & early 40's. Looking forward to getting involved with this group.
welcome to the hamb ! nice A, you will like any of the books by don montgomery, or tex smith. lots of good pictures
These are compulsory reading for anyone who wants to build a traditional hot rod. RIP Don, we have a lot to thank you for.
