I am sure that many of us miss Bluto, as a person and as a contributor to this and some other forums!
I exchange many personal e-mails with him and accept him as a real "old friend" or my late brother Roki!
It is strange how some persons enter suddenly in our lives, even trough internet, and became our friends. But it is sad and hardly acceptable how they could suddenly leave us...

I got from him this modern photo of the same car, as an illustration about possibilities to start collecting small oldtimers - that I would prefer - just if I could...

I do not know what happened with his collection, part in Poland and part still kept in the USA?
It would be good if collection stayed as it is, as a monument to a great man and great collector...

... not quite a 4-wheel Morgan, but maybe inspired by other of similar racing cyclecars?

Looks as 4-wheel feet-forward motorcycle, too?

It looks like they tried to go steampunk on a narrowed & shortened 2-speed Morgan chassis. Judging from the inline shifter, they probably kept the Morgan bevel box & ran the chains to an axle. Do you have any info on it? (The only place I found it was @Airhead Roadster 's post on p.368.)

 

I doubt it saw any race tracks with that narrow track width.

It is "steampunk-style" vehicle (as SR100 said) and without a precisely defined category and use!
For racing or hard sports driving - it isn't, being so narrow (Fred's words), with high seat!
The front suspension is sliding pillar type, but not quite of Morgan style.

So, the unknown vehicle of an unknown creator - but could be great fun to ride it around and even better to have one like that!

That little red car would be cool with chain drive steering.

 

I don't think Jim viewed the "collection" that way. Many of the cars were acquired with the thought of restoring and reselling. If that were the case he wouldn't have sold the Touring coupe.the one car he would have liked to have kept, though, was his Mercer.

 

I spoke to him about how he moved his collection to Poland.... Sounded like a massive operation with many many shipping containers used.

far away? I live in Fairbanks,Alaska where everything is far away.

 

But at least you can drive to get there--the Atlantic is wide and deep (and very wet)

It's in the UK and it has a french license plate.

I forgot Airhead Roadster lives in Hawaii....that's even more remote than Alaska!

 

He will have to use the train.

 

I meant that you can drive to Alaska from the rest of the US (apart from Hawaii).

 

I knew that....we were just giving you a hard time as well a geography lesson.

 

I sailed to Alaska last September but have driven to all but 3 of the mainland states in the 31 years since I moved here from Australia. I am finally getting to go to Europe (Scotland actually) in August.
