The bullet hole wheels/rims on the back in the picture are gone. They were racing slicks and the rims/wheels had self drilling screws on the edges and I didn't want to use them for the new street tires I bought.

The Rocket wheels were on the front when I got the truck and the front tires are brand new (still have the rubber tits). I don't particularly care for the grey spokes.

This is a race truck I want to drive on the street. Still has race stickers in back window from Ohio track and I have a time slip for it. I need to put windows in it, an emerg brake and wipers (or a healthy coat of Rain-x).

I had thought about that but where I live there's no business around that has 15" wheels. Most carry that donk crap!

So I know a guy with an early Dart drag car and I was looking it over pretty good the first time I saw it in person.. The Dart has steel wheels on it with a metallic finish but it was not chrome.. At first glance I thought they were chrome but as I took in the details of the car and came back to the wheels it was not chrome at all. They looked to be aluminum but not like any aluminum wheel I had ever seen. So I asked what’s the story on the wheels? The answer was that they are steel wheels with a ceramic coat like that done to headers.. I liked the look that they had, not all obnoxious like chrome steel wheels more of a subdued finish that looks like something other then what it is, yet it still is..

I’m just throwing it out there..

Aluminum slots polished or gray would be nice on front and rear.
Painted wheels for a low buck look.
If you could find a supplier for chrome steel slots that would be nice and not look like a bucks down racer. The racer in me says stay away from Gragar SS wheels with the uni lugs and go with an aluminum wheel.

  9. You need new skins for your doughnuts your rat with a huffer is putting to much jam through your slush box and your scared your going to blow your pumpkin !!

It’s all about stuff and things..... don’t get to hung up on words.

Cool truck , my choice is cragars or torque thrust D’s or keep your front wheels and go with some slots/kidneys or wide Steelies .

    This is a rim clamp
The tire is mounted to the rim and the rim is mounted to the wheel with the clamp...and a fastener.
This was a great advancement a de-mountable, detachable rim from the wheel...happened when Studebaker quit making wagons
Paint what you have black on the back...but then again I'm a cheap bastard
    Good looking truck

The front wheels are ceramic coated steel.

  19. The ceramic coating looks great… I'll have to remember that one.

  20. You could try to find some that match the steering rim of the truck.
    (sorry, couldn't resist)

    Rim
    Wheel

    Description
The rim is the "outer edge of a wheel, holding the tire". It makes up the outer circular design of the wheel on which the inside edge of the tire is mounted on vehicles such as automobiles. Wikipedia

The hub and spokes are fine but the rim is bent.

So if it has 2 tires it rides on rims and if it has 4 tires it rides on wheels?

  26. Motorcycles use 'rims' because if you trash a wheel, you used to just buy a new rim and however many spokes you needed and re-laced it onto the original hub.

  27. No,
    100 technical explanation-
There's several parts to a "wheel" assembly i.e. Center or hub, spokes or disc and the rim or hoop. That put together is a wheel assembly. Later in the design of automobiles the center hub and the spokes became one into a center disc often referred to as centers for short. That center disc was joined to the hoop or rim with rivets then in later decades was welded. Then later again for special and after market was riveted.

Once they started making 1 piece wheels then there is no separation between the parts. It's cast in a monolithic pour.

The overly anal technicality is that The Rim is just part of the wheel assembly. Without the rim or hoop you can not have a wheel. However if you look around at some off topic stuff you can mount a tire to a centerless rim and get yourself a wheel.
