My dad had a '57 Chrysler 300, then sold it and got a '58 New Yorker. We called them the Batmobile! Loved those cars....
Isn't there a thread around here about bumper jack's You have done a beautiful job on this, all the hard work pay's off in the end. All I can say is WOW!!!
This is the most tasteful, carefully crafted mild custom I've ever seen. 1957 was a perfect year for American cars, and this stands out in my mind as above all others.
Car looked great today!!! Ended up being able to make the show. Went by several times hoping to catch you by it and meet you in person. My wife loved it...said she’d drive it....and that pretty much never comes out of her mouth. Great job!!!! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I've been following this from the beginning and coming from a guy that has never been a Mopar fan all I can say is nice fucking ride, very well done.
What a classy Custom. Knockout. Stunning. Sure wish I could see it in the “flesh”. Congratulations. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Saw your car yesterday. Beautiful! Nice talking to your dad, he gave you all the credit. I know it was a family that brought it to life. Enjoy!
The car made ~600 trouble free miles from Ft Worth to the LSRU and back. I'm still a bit in shock about some of the nice comments I heard about the car! It's still funny to me how little people know about this era of Mopar, but hopefully this car can inspire someone and maybe we'll see a few more of them go together. @drdave and @DIYGUY I wish I could have met up with you guys! You know how Roundup is total overload. We had a terrific weekend! But to be honest, Austin itself has become a complete pain in the ass over the past few years. Anyhow,...
...Just another compliment on finalizing your vision @Gotgas...a truly stunning custom...that can surely deliver when needed
Got to see the car in person at the garage crawl and the fairgrounds - even better in person. Design and execution inside and out are incredible - for me, this is easily a top 3 car at the show. Best post-war custom of the day for sure. Thank you for bringing it down.
I have read this thread completely more than once and I am amazed at how many "WOW's" have been used to describe this beautiful and stunning car so here's another one WOW!! your dad is one hell of a man wish I had one like him. My hot is off to you sir.
Man I love how your Chrysler finished up! Big forward look fan and great to see you build such a great looking mild custom. A 60 New Yorker Hardtop is on my list, if ever you hear of a two door or wagon.....
Thanks! Yeah, my dad is awesome! It was great to hang out with him in Austin. Someone from the HAMB recognized him as "the dad" from this thread, and that made his day. If you're serious, I know someone in SoCal with a slightly rusty '60 NYer coupe. I can get you in touch. Shoot me a PM... Thank you all for the compliments!
Cowtown Mopars is having their annual show at Summit in Grand Prairie June 1.... You should bring the car out!!
I'm probably done with 'regular' updates on this thread for a while. The plan for the car now is to just drive it a bunch! I thought you guys would like this. I wanted to replicate that photoshop I did back in 2008, so we drove the car over to a warehouse and got a picture of the car at about the same angle. It's uncanny how close it came out! Now I just need some wire wheels, eh? And I guess I can finally update my avatar to the real thing. (and here's the original image of a stock one I used, for reference)
