Thanks guys.. Its sitting in the garage, waiting its turn.. Im gonna go at it after Feb. Getting a new job so hopefully a better schedule to get more time on it. Met a young hamber and he's gonna help me wire it. . So it sits, collecting strippers glitter and lip gloss. Ill update when running.
Oh..haha. . The young hamber its You! Joshua aka @Doc Wright and I are getting together to work on this thing and hopefully many more. We'll get together soon man...
Yeah! My exMIL once asked me: Did you know most single dollar bills have been in a strippers assckrack? I replied: Yep,thats why i smell them all
Quick update.. Almost finished with wiring.. Gotta hook gas gauge, temp sender, oil sender, starter, alternator and distributor. Hook a few grounds a start it, say end of this month?
Im givin it all i gout! Naaaa that show got to big... Ill probably just cruise around IF i finally get it moving Here a picture
Thanks @Lee Veinotte.... More progress, oil filter adapter is in(got rid of oil cooler lines. For now ) The starter is left to wire, gas sender as well as tailights and a horn button. Then onto getting a driveshaft made, run atf lines, gas lines and hooking the rad one last time. A shout out to @Doc Wright for starting this snowball effect. He set the plan for the wiring im doing the duty work wait for him to supervise when time arrives.
Happy and sad to report that I had lights for 30 seconds.. Then my left headligth started smoking and It burned.... My started stared clicking too so will troubleshoot later
Update. I found out I didn't have real good ground and that's why the headlight burned out. Everything sorta works,I gotta check into the gauges again.. Last night I told my son that we were going to Viva, In the morning,he changed his mind. He came out to the garage around 12:30,we sat down and talked for a minute. Then he asked me If the coe was ready to start. I looked a him and I said: "We'll make it ready." I filled the transmission with fluid,I had him help me bolt down the carb, I got a wet rag and the fire extinguisher. I got a little 16oz water bottle that I filled with gas yesterday, and I had him sit on the driver's seat. Remember,we are in the cab because the engine is sitting right below it. No doghouse or transmission cover. I told him that he was the one with the key. He said: "I know what is going to happen if it doesn't start" I asked ,what? He said: "Your gonna curse up a storm" I said "no,because I know that everything never goes the way we plan it." He was concerned because last time we tried to start an engine Las year,it caught on fire for a second. I poured gas down the carb and I told him to say a prayer and turn the key.. He did,but only turned it enough to turn the engine a second. I told him to do it again and hold the key for 4secs. He did and the engine roared and his eyes opened and a big smile broke through his face. We did It a few times and he was just as excited, I have no exhaust and I had to scream at him to press the throttle for a second. He said his heart was pounding. I don't remember if I stabbed the distributor the correct way but I worked. No leaks as of now, nothing caught on fire,no better day that to spend some quality time with my son that will turn 10 in 3 days. I hope this child gets infected with this incurable disease. I know this hobby kept me above ground and away from drugs and heavy drinking. I thank you all who have helped, encouraged,Beat some sense into me, I will always thank you. The journey continues. Hopefully with out woes.
thank you, tried to give up a few times..i coudnt. ha! thanks i catch on fire easily,,not this time thanks, definitely pumped! see u at the salt!! and because this is worthless without video
Another update. I been tying loose ends all round the truck. Im very close and very anxious to do a short drive around the neighborhood. I changed some brake lines and have no leaks but still have little bubles in the rear lines... Maybe i need to spend more time pumping the brakes or have someone help me. Anyone have any ideas of what i could be missing? Also the carb is leaking around the base, hopefully is just too much fuel pressure and an adjustment. The carb is brand new but it sat for a while. I have 60lbs of oil pressure according to a mech gauge. My fuel pressure regulator gauge wasnt reading so i have to look into it. Just a few pics of my temp set up
The fuel line looks pinched off between the pump and the regulator, the sharp "U" bend restricts the flow of fuel. Also, a 0-15 PSI gauge would make setting the regulator easier. Most gauges don't have much accuracy at the bottom end of the scale.
Cool Stuff...... I agree about the line, but that pump oughta push just fine for sitting and starting/break in. The gauge- well...as mentioned above^^^^ probably get a fuel pressure gauge ( a real one), instead of that mock up. Then it's test where you have it, mount when your done.... Your on your way, and looks bad a$$!
