Lowered about 2” all around maximum amount of tire I could fit in stock wells with slight stagger on 15x7 GM wheels.

    Me too,
While I must admit, I have had cragars, slots, and rallye wheels. I am drawn to steel wheels and little caps also. I have been told at 71yrs.old.that I have become some what stubborn and maybe just a little oppinonated. Hmm........say it ain’t so.

I think there reaches a point where tires and wheels can become too large a dia. and
over power the car making it look out of proportion.

The first thing your eyes are drawn to are the wheels rather than the overall
design and beauty of the car itself. Instead of the car's beauty as being
greater than the sum of its parts, the oversize parts become the eye catching center of focus.
Then you go back and view the rest of the vehicle.
Seems to be a growing trend.

Bigger is not necessarily better in such cases.

I just got this Corvette back on the road. It had been parked since 85. I put 15 x 6 Radir polished Tri-ribs on it. For tires I used Redline radials.
The stance is courtesy of old wore out shocks and springs. I am unsure how much it will change as I replace those:) . 815E432D-AF63-43CD-A6C5-2A6BBA88A80C.jpeg 9883BDDE-8D11-4FE3-A373-05D6B5281049.jpeg FCF915BA-E5E3-4BFC-9D5D-DDD0414657B2.jpeg 06ADF659-9A13-48CB-9634-CC4C1DF5525C.jpeg 0DA5F8AD-0FDA-4D22-944E-1DE2D1E39883.jpeg DFF7CBA8-2B48-4C13-AF07-C60213ABE4B6.jpeg

I agree with what 19Fordy said in a earlier post, about bigger isn't always better, that big wheel thing that's going around is....well it's not for me, I have seen a few cars that it worked on , some of the OT Pro-Touring type cars if there body's are modified in a way that they do flow with the rest of the car...on Hot Rods..NO..even a set of Big & Littles can get out of hand some times. 20190515_011855.jpeg

Difference between a '40s stance and a late '50s early'60s stance. it amazes me how big the modified looks next to my coupe. Wheelbase is 98" on the modified, 115" on the coupe. The coupe has 16" steelies and the modified runs 17" wires on the front and 18" on the back.
    Cheers,

I always build at ride height with the size of tires and wheels the car will have on it when finished, that's how important stance is.
