Just seeing the name Champion Engineering brings back wonderful memories of the Lagana's and now to see their sons doing so well in Top Fuel with the guy's from Texas with the Capco dragster is just really cool and they deserve a great deal of credit for sticking with it after years of struggles.

Fontani and nanini at union grove. The driver was later killed in a race car towing accident after being rear ended at a toll booth.

 

I don’t remember ever seeing this one...I wish I’d have known of this car when I built my Chevy II white noise...I’d have cloned this car! Even kinda fits my screen name.

 

Great photo LB (and 1947knuck). I was a big fan of Fontanini & Nannini back in the day.

If I had only been around then lol here is the car currently raced it at George Rays this weekend

It’s far from done but it’s running and made some awesome burnout passes

 

It's also a winner. First pass first match a win. More to come.

 

Looks like BIG fun.

 

It was lots of fun and wouldn’t have missed it more to come

Am I off here, but shouldn't this thread be "real" F/X - Altered wheelbase cars, not modern takeoffs / copies ?
I for one, would like to remember the cars that existed in the 1960's, not the 2000's.

I am with you mate! The same applies to the tri five gasser thread where I am sick of seeing a bunch of bogus faux gassers with a bunch of dumb arse parts and modifications that are so far from how the cars really were to be laughable.
