So far I’ve just been putting 98 in it and keeping it at 70 mph. She used a quart of oil so far... that’s about it. I’m just trying to go easy on the old girl.

I mostly stay at 65-70.... she will do 75 but doesn’t like it. But it took a day to get used to riding in the slow lane. Lol

  9. LOL! :p I was checking out some of your route on Google Maps and zoomed in on Atlanta, Illinois. Seems that Google Maps thinks that the muffler/coney dog man is a real person, so they blurred-out his face!

I've got a serious case of wagon envy going on over here. Nice ride!

When you are driving ON Route 66 the answer to this question is always YES!

    The road IS the destination!

(OK, the kids may not always agree with that :) )

You can't beat a Rambler (I have seven!).
Here's a song for you, perfect for Rt. 66 drive! I'm enjoying the ride also.

Watch out for the Uranus signs in Missouri. My favorite was "The best fudge comes from Uranus!".

Did you stay at the Wagon Wheel Motel? We traveled 66 back in 2009 and stayed there and had a "memorable" experience. Not the same owners as today who have now rebuilt this iconic 66 Motel and restored the cabins. I would stay there again now that it has been done up.
When we arrived without any booking the then owners were happy to accommodate us (2 couples) and as we had always done we inquired what the cost would be. The "manager" said $40 per night and we assumed that was $80 for a couple per room. That was OK but he meant $40 for the 2 rooms for the night!!! And what we got was hilarious.
The manager hadn't kept up his dental plan and when he opened his mouth to speak I think there was only 2 teeth there.
The rooms had not been touched for ages, window were loose and paint cracked and peeling, bed coverings while clean we think they
were musty and the bathrooms were very basic to say the least. Our friend's toilet lid was not secured to the pedestal!! So we wanted to have a drink of wine and set up our chairs and went looking for the ice. We found it down the back in a cooler box sitting on an old chair with a light and arrow pointing to it.
We had a great night at the Missouri Hicks BBQ on the road above the motel.
I went by last year when we did the trip across the USA in the Hudson and it looked great. The new owners have restored it to what it should be and I would definitely stay there if in that area again.

Any one have any connections in New Mexico with a museum and resto shop called Bozo’s??? Our clutch bracket broke last night.... it’s rubber, same material as a muffler clamp or steering rag joint. Hopefully they can help. If I was at home I could definitely fix it. And not sure of the proper name of the part so I can find it on the internet.

I wish that you were closer to me.... Looks like one could drill out the rivets and use a chunk of the sidewall, cut out from a tire. Then put it back together with bolts... Perhaps a seatbelt temporarily....

    Bummer!!!!

Would large (long and wide) zip tie's work- 2 or 3 around the z-bar to the hole in the bell housing?
