I worked B-52H models for about 7 years.

 

I was a gunner on B 52s. where were you stationed?

 

I worked for the Mercedes dealer ship in Ft. Worth ,Tx. We Were on the south end of Carsewell Air Force Base and you could stand in the service driveway and it lined up perfect with the runway. The last week of the month they were doing touch and goes to burn up ther fuel allotment we had B52 and B1 coming in all day. You could see the crew in the open bomb bay doors and they would wave at us.
The army first tested Puff at Warner Robins.

 

Years ago at Ft Dix the compass course was at the end of McGuire AFB runway. Standing on the ground looking up at the C-5's landing and taking off looked as if they were going slow enough to just fall out of the sky. So big and going fast but optical illusion.

 

I was actually a civilian based out of OKC. Tinker AFB. I have been working on aircraft for 30 years or so.

 

Ok. thanks for what you do. I flew 52s for 18 yrs. Ret in 80 as E7.Sure was a good ride from the tall tails to the Gs, and Hs.

 

The G's were on their way out and the H's were coming on the scene. That was roughly 1997.

That guy has got some heavy concentration going on with his camera...I realize that plane is probably not as close to him as it appears at that angle of shot...but still no flinching, no head spin around ....he is on it....

Luc Deley’s son flew a c-47 to the DDay deal, fuel stops Canada,Greenland,Iceland’s, Scotland. The last weekend to Berlin. He is the Late Marcel’s grandson.

Yep! Great group of guys. I was on the 2:30 flight. Dad flew 58 missions in A-20A's and B-25's during the war, and it's been a dream to fly on one. Couple pic. Dad Jan 43' at 3-mile airstrip, Port Moresby, flight over either Charters Towers or Townsville, and the old man taking a cat nap at 3-mile.

 

A 20 s were wicked ships ,I've been told and read about. Used to be called Boston Streetwalkers, no visible means of support. It was a short winged witch. Martin Maurders.

 

The A-20's were built by Douglas. Very wicked at low level. I believe you're referring to the Martin Marauder. Short wing and could be a handful. Another saying on the Marauder was "One a day in Tampa bay". Pilots would forget to put the batteries on line when they entered the ship. Fired it up and taxiede out, draining the batteries. The props were electrical controlled, so when the batteries died, the props would got to a neutral pitch, which happened shortly after take off.

 

that could get hairy real fast!!

Heard about the one a day. Several B 47s nearly met the same fate.

 

One displayed in Courthouse yard in my hometown of Greencastle Indiana just across the street from the bank where Dillinger robbed. Alarm box still there also.
