I wonder if he would have been pissed off to know his daughter grew up to be a Ford girl.. Next sports car will be a vette though. Wish I would have gotten to know him before he passed.
I remember that car well. I was just a kid but it would compete with a candy green 61 Vette called the Twister. My brothers 62 Quick Silver which he showed at the same time ISCA 1976-1977 is in the January issue of Vette magazine on newstands currently.
HEY GUYS,...I seen this thread and i had to join up to contribute,...went through my fathers old Hot Rod Albums and found some pics of Cherry Smash in 1981 at the White Plains NY County Center Car Show.... enjoy,... doesn't seem to be many other pics around Neil
A bit of a reality check required here, if the picture is in a magazine from the mid seventies the lovely Candy is probably 55 or 60 and a grandmother. Think about that!
There used to be purple Vette like that that raced at Great Lakes Dragaway 10 years ago by a bunch of black guys.
Hey guys, just found this thread and wanted to help out. A good friend of mine named Jerry Ambrosi owner of Master Upholstery and Bob were good friends. He did all the upholstery work on the car when it was The Black Widow and The Cherry Smash. He is not much on computers but has pictures and slides of the car. He is more the happy to talk to any one about any of the cars he's done. This one more then others. Its been awhile since he's talked to Bob's wife, but has thought of trying to find out what happened to the car. Here's his shop # and email 973-383-6622 and masteruph@hotmail.com I took these two shots today in his shop. The second one is hard to see, but that's the chassis and engine they are sitting on. Jerry is the passenger.
My shop just acquired this car. found in a garage were it has been over 20 years.going thru the car now will post more pics when complete

The car looks. We would love to talk to you about the car and how you found it. Our friend Jerry who did the interior in the car has been looking for this car for years. If you could ever find the time to call, we would love to talk to you. Thanks
Pete, it's been 10 years since your original pic upload of Cherry Smash and Candy(?). Any chance you could use your smart phone, if you have, and upload it? Looks very positively like the pic I've attached.
The model in the Cherry Smash '62 Vette pic is indeed NOT Candy. I saw some pics on an eBay auction that were part of the 1977 Hot Rod Show World magazine, and one included names and pics of the models in the magazine. See the attached image at the bottom right, plus the text. .
I am the new owner of this car. Transport delivering from AZ today coming to Chicago Area. If anyone has additional info on the car would be great. What issues of magazines are they in. I see Saginaw Speed did work on it recently. Was wondering what was done. Thanks, Tony
Just reassembled the car replacing only what was needed tried to keep all the original parts but had to replace the clutch it was destroyed (use the winch to get the drag car on the trailer guys)the fuel pump and the carburetor the supercharger was ok but I would overhaul if you plan to race it and to that keep an eye on the blow off valve it’s on the back of the intake Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
And I noticed some Deuce removed the trunk emblem no respect well that’s what I get for not keeping it also the motor was completely gone thru Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
