The '57 was a gorgeous ride and was number 1 in sales. In '58, Ford set another record having the ugliest ride in the world. Thank God that the '58 hood was able to fit the '57.
Similar to the first family car I remember, that my mom toted me around in. 6-cylinder with a 3-speed on the column. It was that Key Lime Pie Green, but had stock wheels, dog dish hubcaps, and shackles. Definitely Not Bitchen. Life ended early for it when it threw a rod near the intersection of Glassell and Katella. I was only four or five, but still remember that sound!
I think alot had to do with the fact that Ford was all new in 57 and Chevy was on it's third year using the same body and chassis.
True story. I was in the DMV a few weeks ago. My number came up for window 13. I stood at window 13 but no one was around. The girl at window 12 apologized for sending me to window 13...she said she worked at window 13 yesterday but forgot she was working window 12 today.
Those plaid picnic sets must have been popular we had one and saw a lot of them when going for picnics at state parks.
