Projects hemi water crossovers- whatcha got because this sucks.

So if you have one of these supercharged water crossovers , please consider renting it for short time for measuring Purposes. Thanks

Well I am going to fix the problem by casting new blower style crossover like the PAW unit. Having one to measure would be nice but I think I can get it. Going to make an couple test unit's in welded steel first for testing.

 

We are watching, ya never know you might be able to sell a bunch of them. I'm currently planning on using the hot heads AN set up but changing the fittings and hose to all black, to eliminate the late modeL bling.
But I'm not married to it.

May have posted this a few years ago, but this is what I made for the 331 I'm using in the '40 Chrysler in avatar.
As I went with the short BB Chevy water pump ( for ease of replacement if necessary) and HH adapters, the stock water pump with the integral cross0ver was no longer needed.
And, I wanted to make sure to retain the bypass feature.
The short elbows are kinda expensive, but worked well.



When I get all the accessories mounted, any excess parts of the flanges will be removed.

 

That looks pretty good, just wont work with a blower.

 

Is modifying the stock crossover an option?
Or I guess welding/ brazing cast iron isn't practical?

FWIW, I cut the alternator mount off my stocker, then ground it smooth. Looks stockish but just a little nicer.

 

Going through a bunch of stuff and found my jig plate with an unfinished crossover only it in welded steel. I should finish up this project and see about casting some.

Been waiting on seeing what came about with the one 31Vicky made. My son just got excepted to college for mechanical engineering for fall 2019, they have some amazing labs for the students to use and only pay for materials so maybe next year and in future I will be able to post similar home designed solutions to HAMB vehicle parts problems.

Alright group, this might be what you're looking for. Our Hemi water crossover casting is designed for 331, 354 and Hot Heads cylinder heads on a 392 block. Stock-appearing and lightweight, our part# WM3501-1 uses a Chevy/GM thermostat and housing, and has a threaded boss for temp probe/burp fitting. Price will be in $195-205 range with gaskets. Still won't help with a blower.

We need a replica of the PAW one.

 

Agree, This is what's needed for Belt clearance.

 

Nick has been turning out a lot of cool parts lately, he can probably knock out another one. For us non blower guys this looks like the ticket.

 

I went ahead and bought the HH assembly. He offers it with black fittings which I love. Really nicely made.

Thanks for the props and comments. Yes, mine's not designed for blower pop-offs as it was created for Tom Curnow's recreation of Chrisman's injected Hemi T-Bird. Hopefully my ACE part can compliment your unblown Hemis.

That style you made is already available but doesn’t work out too well most of the time.

Seems like you’re much more geared to getting parts made.

I'm needing one for a 354 w blower. We are using Arias Pistons though. Very nice looking stuff would love a better t-stat option too.

Update-

First a recap these go back 2 2016 or 2017.
It wasn’t easy getting to this point.


I’ve talked to at least 2 dozen foundries.
Three problems were common,
1. Too complicated and technical
2. Too expensive with 1-200k set up fees
3. Too small of runs
Infinitely frustrating, deflating, discouraging. Just really really hard like running into a wall.

So I met a guy by chance,
Casual conversation leads his cousin.
Met with him, and he’s probably the most talented guy I’ve personally had the pleasure of meeting.

A week later this is happening
No stress, no problem, easy.



First one, out of the sand it’s still hot.
actually this is #2. The other got cut up for Investigation and testing and measuring wall thickness.



So it’s happening, they will be available soon.
