Nope, that is Truman sparks as the pilot, check out the film " fandango " and laugh your ass off when they go to the pecos parachute school, and don't miss the segment where they wrangle the tail end of a freight train with cable tied to the front bumper to drag them along, a gut buster indeed!

That Olds sedan looks like it is going to the demo derby, just old cars then that we would love to have now. Reminds me of my dumbassed cousin that tore up a clean 62 Starfire back in the 80's
Actually the Olds was headed for the destruction derby but I bought it before it got there. I needed the transmission and then stripped the car for anything reusable. I think I paid $20 bucks for the car.
I was pleasantly surprised to see this picture of Fred Jones and his invention there in the background. He, more or less, single-handedly invented mechanical refrigeration units for the transportation industry. I know that sounds a little boring but up until then all trailers and boxcars had to be packed in ice to maintain temperature which was haphazard at best. Once Mr. Jones' devices were in use, which actually had a thermostat, you could set the temperature to be maintained at whatever level was necessary be it fresh or frozen depending on the product being hauled. The brand he pioneered was Thermo King which I still see on the road today.
