Projects 30 Ford coupe build

Tri power’s dialed now! Had the wifey with me last night and I left pretty hard from one light on the highway rolling through town and she wasn’t paying attention... [emoji3] Needless to say she rips up to 60mph pretty quick. When the secondary carbs open up she pulls hard and sounds great. I might drop the timing just a touch but it’s basically just the little refinements from here. I’ll get a vid shot of getting into it a little and post it up on my IG page.

Drove to the Vernon Cruise In today. First time attending and this one was well worth it. Perfect location and a ton of great cars. Will go next year for sure!

Man that is one CROWDED engine compartment glad I don't have to work on it. Must have been very expensive back when bought new with all those goodies.

 

You got that right. She was loaded with a ton of options and the car was mint. Weighs 8000lbs but she’s a beauty!! [emoji3]

Second that Fitness, your coupe will continue to bring you much fun and enjoyment! I have well over 60K miles on mine. Had to pry me out of my hot rod practically...

 

Found a cool old government building in town that has some neat garage doors. Good little spot for a couple pics!

How are the carbs doing now, got them tuned in yet?

 

They’re much better but I still and not a hundred percent happy. Gonna order a couple more jet sizes and play with it. The motor is super sensitive to the air intake. Tried a smaller mesh screen on the scoops and she wasn’t happy at all.

How was Deuce Days @Fitnessguy?

 

Terrible, there were way too many hot rods parked and driving around. The weather was way too nice and the scenery was too good...

 

Have been playing with some designs on an oil bath air cleaner style for the coupe. Have fabbed a couple different ones up and I’m liking this one so far. You could keep playing and redesigning until you’re blue in the face so at some point you have to call it good. Part of the process is continuing to improve on my metal shaping skills. Once I get the “prototype” where I want it then I can build the other two. Something very rewarding about taking a flat piece of sheet metal and making it into something functional.

I think you may need to add at least one more row of openings or it's going to starve for air.

 

I agree. More holes.

 

It’s open at the bottom so can draw air from there and is also slightly open at the top. I will be test driving it to make sure the motor likes it before building any more.
