  1. Some people question what a Hot Rod is..this car will clear it up for them.
    Nice craftsmanship, coming along nicely.

  2. Hey Dan, would your client be interested in a high rise 6x2 or a pair of Imperial valve covers?

Looks great! Nice welds and fabrication skills. Would you mind sharing a part number for the gas tank?

  6. 4x2? I thought he had a 3x2. 3x2s tune themselves.

  7. Sure. I’ll dig it up for ya. Nice tank so far.

He has all the 2’s! Actually sold the 3x2. It’ll be running the 4x2. I think there’s even a blower manifold on a shelf somewhere

  8. Nice to see you're still at it Dan

Trying to get the body done and ready to take to the painter on Monday. That’s gonna be a stretch. Who wants to come help weld and grind? ;)

Very nice build as said defines a real”hot rod”. R u going to run/build a hood? I hope the grille comes down a bit to line up with top of cowl.

Good stuff brother. Brings back lots of memories on my build. Enjoy the process! What colour are you going with? Looking forward to the final product.

First quality workmanship and pre-planning. Even "Jaws" would be happy with your work ( Jaws was our fabrication shop supervisor at Holman-Moody in the '60's / '70's... a super stickler!!!!!! ) Rick

  17. Nope, no hood. It’ll have support rods mounted down lower than stock. Agreed, nothing worse than a grille shell above the cowl. Gonna have to cut the lower radiator mounts to drop it.

As of now, it’s getting Leadfoot Gray (modern Ford color) on the body and grille shell. All black chassis and suspension, black painted/powder coated grille insert, black coated headers.

And a different more bad ass set of wheels and tires.

  18. Driver side wheel well and quarter patch done...

    Trunk braces are done...

Got the trunk gap good enough for the painter. It was bad....

All the misc interior welding is finished up. It’s coming along pretty good. Still a looooong way to go before the body can go to the painter.

Looks like the making of a real Hot Rod, make it for fun and you'll never regret it, trust me.
Your doing a really good job, well done Dan.

  22. The build changed a bit as things came along. I was originally gonna do all the body and paint work. Nicely painted chassis and just a quick once over on the body and primer. To maybe be painted at a later date.

Then it was decided the body was to be nicely painted, which I can’t do in a reasonable amount of time...or at all. A phone call to my buddy Scott at Kahiko Customs just outside of Richmond Virginia and he agreed to help out. He does high end Porsche restoration work, so painting a hot rod is a bit outside of his norm, unless it’s something like @D-Russ Vicky which ended up on the cover of TRJ. Thanks again Scott!

I’ll be finishing up the chassis and painting/assembling that while Scott gets the body in top shape. Looking forward to seeing it all together!

    Stay tuned!

  27. It’s a new seat from some street rod company. Owner traded some stuff for it awhile back. They’re crazy expensive new. It’s at the upholstery shop now.
