Projects 1956 M100 help

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by mehal, Aug 15, 2019.

  1. Hey all,

I've got a 56 Ford/Merc pickup that I've pieced together from F100 and M100 parts. Custom frame, bed, etc., etc. Problem is I don't have a VIN plate for it, and I want to title/register it as a 1956 Mercury M100.

So I'm looking for any leads on a VIN tag, paperwork, or a 56 M100 parts truck I can use to complete the project.

    Thanks, Mike

What you are asking for is NOT legal. There are legal ways to register it, call your local DMV.

u can also locate someone that does title research for classic cars to try to help out - do you have a title/bill of sale? - at some the DMV will require an inspection to locate numbers on frame, etc

  4. Hey JJ,

No title, just a BoS. I bought the cab, bed, fenders and tailgate as parts from an abandoned project, so it really started as bare bones, but I've gathered more parts over the years. The frame is an Fatman frame (hot rod), so no stampings there.

I'll probably just keep sniffing around until I find a salvage vehicle I can save and combine with my project. Thanks for the help.

best change your avatar - VIN tags started in 1954 - better read up on regulations for registering a modified vehicle in your state with no numbers to verify - will need to have new numbers assigned
