Trying to find out what this hupcap fits? So I can find 3 more. Don't know if this the right place to post this question.
Look real close on the back side for a clue as to what car company made it. Sometimes it’s there sometimes it not. Doesn’t ring a bell with me, but is a good looking wheel cover! Bones
I have a feeling that may be a generic wheel cover like might have come from Western Auto or other auto parts store to replace a lost one.
If it's stainless steel, it's almost sure to be a factory wheel cover. The aftermarket ones were almost all plated steel. What diameter is it? That will help too... To me, it looks like a low-line Mopar cover from in the early '60s.
I have 4 poverty caps that look dead on the center of that photo . They are stainless , not a. Lue what they were from . I just donated them to a Buddy of mine for his son’s project .
That could be very well be an aftermarket cover. JC Whitney used to have pages upon pages of caps in the 60's that almost looked like original ones. More for the guy just wanting replacement or dressier caps than the custom car brigade. They had caps for that too though.
I originally posted “ ‘58 Plymouth “. Then deleted that. It does look like the Mopar, but more (to me) like the Merc. Knowing the diameter wheel it is sized for might help narrow the guesswork. edit.....I think you may be correct...…..'60 ish Valiant or Lancer Ray
Yes, and so was some of the FoMoCo and GM stuff in that period. 13"/14"15" were all common then. The problem here is, the OP has not posted the diameter of the wheel cover. Though one might extrapolate the diameter by the relative size of the valve stem hole...... Ray
If you want three more of these, here's a tip from my experience: Give that one away, and you're sure to find three at the very next swap meet you attend... ...but you'll never find a fourth.
Sorry about getting back on this hub cap. Been busy selling a 1957 Imperial South Hampton. Was going to use these on my morris minor. The Hub cap is 15 inch. So I won't be able to use them on my truck. Thanks for all info. Here is a pic of the truck and hub cap I decided to use.
Those on your Morris Minor in the photo are, as in guess you know, ‘57 Plymouth. One of my favorite caps back in the day. I had a ‘58 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop in ‘64/‘65 era that I put a set of those on...... I like the Morris pickup too! Ray
