Projects Just Another Hemi Powered Model A Coupe Build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ClutchDumpinDan, Aug 1, 2019.

  1. Great build, but I wonder if that spreader bar s going to whistle going down the road? Years of work in the exhaust world has me gun shy about flow going over open backed perfs...

The work you have done on this car is amazing. I really appreciate the detail and all the pictures that show how you have done each step.

  10. What 1low52 said, it’s gonna have to be one loud whistle to hear over that drivetrain and other wind noise! :D

I'm an idiot, because in my dumb opinion a hemi between 32 rails even if boxed is way too bulbus.
Just me man others probably really dig it...beautiful build otherwise.

Bulbus: A bulb shaped anatomical structure. How does boxing the rails have any effect on the shape of a hemi?

Clutch dumpin dan, How long would a hood be on this?

  14. It’s in a million pieces for paint right now. Never measured for a hood, but the frame is stretched 2” in the front if that’s any help.

  17. It’s a Kugel setup. First I’ve used, I like it.

  18. I’m not sure where it’s stretched. Frame came to me already built.

  19. Could be just a stock 32 wheelbase of 106 inches Dan. Model As were 103.5. That's what mine is.

  20. Well now I’m curious o_O

I was told it was stretched and that big ol Hemi fit without issue so I assumed it was. I measured the wheel base getting the front end lined up and can’t remember what it was. Gonna bother me until I’ve got the axles back in and can measure it!

  21. So I need the help of the collective here. Trying to locate the handle/latch/etc. for the glovebox door. Looks like there’s a couple different options. I have the door that takes the locking cylinder, correct?

As opposed to the nice simple plastic handle type. Also, anybody have a pic of the hinge/spring clip setup?

    Thanks!

Dan, is your coupe channelled an inch or more? (I may have missed it in another thread). The proportions of this coupe are outstanding!

The other factor is the radiator being 2" farther forward, something is definitely very right about this car's proportions.

    Thanks for sharing the build

  26. It’s just set over the frame enough to get rid of the gap between the frame and body. Don’t know the actual distance just yet as the spacer blocks won’t get made until the body goes on the final time.

Personally, I think stretched ‘32 frames look like crap most of the time. That big ol’ Hemi fills the space well thought and the proportions worked out well. Looking forward to getting it painted and all back together.

  27. Frame is primed! All the small parts are ready to paint. Hopefully put on some color next week if nothing goes wrong.
