It turns over smoothly with the pugs out & they’re all dry. I was hoping to clean it thoroughly, re gasket it ,change all the freeze plugs & run it. It was a good running low mileage engine when Ray pulled it last July. I drained decent looking anti freeze from both block drains. My edelbrock intake has the taller ports, so I’ll be good with that. There is a broken exhaust manifold bolt in the head I’ll be addressing today. Unfortunately we all know how lousy engine oil was back then....... So if anything looks questionable when I open it up, I’ll be doing a full rebuild. Well, so far the 324 looks much better inside than the “freshened up” 303 I pulled out & tore down. Hopefully I get the bottom end apart tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yes sir, that is a clean old Olds for sure! don't find them like that very often. How much ridge in the cyl's?

So, it feels like it’s been forever that I’ve been waiting for Parts. I finally have everything I ordered from Ross racing & the machine shop should be finished machining everything next week. I’m hoping to get it assembled, installed & broken in b4 winter gets here! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Some Parts waiting for their new home. It’s been a long time coming. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Just waiting for a warm dry day to do the final wash/clean on the machined block. Then I’ll mask, prime, paint & assemble the engine. I’m anxious to get it back together. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
The Helgers would blow into the race track at Winterport, ME. with a load of race cars... they all went like stink... his boys were having a day one never forgets ! go Helgers go !
I understand about the northeast winters and priorities etc. I have been collecting parts for my tudor project for 10 years now, had a total knee replacement last Oct. so have had to sideline the build until it gets healed, no kneeling up to now. Keep us posted on your progress Triumph.
Finally, life has given me enough free time to do the final cleaning of my block & get some paint on it. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Thanks, I used SEM etching primer. The color is from Fusick & I used SEM clearcoat All 3 steps were from spray bombs. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Made a little progress today................ I spend more time cleaning parts than I do assembling. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Yeah, slow progress is better than no progress I suppose..... I used the rubber seal with the shim behind it from best gaskets. I hope it doesn’t leak! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Thanks man, it’s tough when life gets in the way sometimes but, I’m determined to get it going. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Been following you too, glad to see your back. I have a tudor project that started with two frame rails, a body and a 32 truck dash. I have been collecting parts for 10 years and am finally ready to get after it this winter! Thanks to the Hamb classified I have been able to roundup enough parts to build a 60's era high school hot rod..
