Joe, Not sure if it applies to 55's, but my 57 door hinges had easily replaceable bronze bushings and pins. I found what I needed at O'reilly's (or..?) to replace them with new. They were in the "HELP" section and only the package of ***orted pieces had what I needed, so ended up buying 2 pkgs. to get what I needed for 2 doors

Thanks Dave, Rich it looks like 57 was the first year of the bushed pins.

Bummer. Well, if I were you in that case, I'd search for another pair, have them rebuilt, painted, and ready to install before I took the oem's off. That way your downtime will be limited.
OR............look at modifying/boring out the ones you've got to accept bushings/pins. Not that you'll ever need to rebuild them again, but that still might be quicker than having to send the ones you've got out to be rebuilt.

  7. While we are on the topic. i need to remove my doors and the check arm or whatever it's called is Riveted or something similar. i believe the book shows a removable pin. Has anyone else experienced this? i have no problem with drilling it out. But i didnt see a replacement part in any book or online..

Just use a short machine screw to replace the rivet. The Tbird shops have a rivet looking retainer pin that is held in place underneath by a clip. . Go to www.cl***icbird.com, look for part # 76001S. It might fit a sedan door check.
