This is the inside of the new inner trunk lid I made from one piece of steel.

I painted all the panels in etch primer to stop them from rusting.

  7. Photos are working for me. David, the one piece bun panel and the inner trunk look like factory made OEM parts. Very nicely done!

Keep the pictures coming, David... even re-posts of any "lost" ones. They are always great for reference.
I started making fenders for my "T-ish" thing but first re-watched (yet again) your DVD for a refresher.
That DVD was a great investment, as far as I'm concerned.

I did post some of these photos before but what with photobucket…..

Once I had finished fabricating the chassis and had assembled it to check everything fitted I sent the chassis off to be sandblasted and painted.

I then spent quite a bit of time cleaning every part down to bare metal, cleaning off years of crud and rust.

I brush painted all the parts, of course they were all painted in primer and then gloss painted.

Wow... that's an old buck. Apparently your shop has been good for keeping the humidity reasonable.

I have had the bucks in three different workshops since I made them, none of which have any kind of heating or air conditioning. All have been right next to the sea.

They have held up very well then.
    The panels look great, David.

  17. Great to see you back at it David! Your work looks fantastic as usual. Add me to the list with @Blue One and @scootermcrad for tediously long projects.

That is a gorgeous quarter panel! I'd see a market for those over here in the US. Can you make a few dozen and ship them over?

After some long, hard searches for '26-'27 quarters, deck lids, and bun panels I am in complete agreement here!
Shipping costs may be 'prohibitive', though.

How about we ship the bucks over and buy him a plane ticket? He can use my shop and stay at my house.

  21. Those are nice. After having spent way too much time trying to figure out how i'm going to fix the parts I have, add me to the "Dang, how can I get one of those?" list. In fact I'd be happy with just the upper corner for each side..

Because I worked on them periodically I don't know how many hours I have in them. I think its quite a lot. they are not that easy to make. I don't think people would pay the number of hours that it took. The Bun panels are a bit easier so might just about be viable. Trouble is I have too much work as it is.

I made up and welded in the wheel well area to both turtle deck panels The one in bare metal is not quite finished at this stage.

A couple more photos of the almost finished turtle deck panel...

Thank you all for the comments about the panels being nice, I do this for a living. Its just time served. Not to say it always goes right first time.

In my experience on this earth, for a little over 60 years.. it only goes right the "first" time after you have done it a few times before. They were only practice times and didn't count. ;)

All this talent and still no one makes Model A coupe roof panels, you know the corner pieces with the back-side window. I’d pay for a set of those...

Thanks K13. This has been a much longer project than I imagined. Good to know I'm not the only one. I should have built a modified based on an A chassis.
