Of course it's a single master cylinder.

    We'll see the Barracuda again.

Thank you...and I hope not in the classifieds. A ton of potential there. Just needs the time. It already has the right person.

I was looking through my stuff and found a Torker 2-R. It's not a very good manifold, so it looks just right.

  6. Don’t you know that you are automatically going to die if you use a single master cylinder...

My truck still has one as well...

Looking forward to the barracuda making a comeback

I’ve had so many people scream at me over the ol fruit jar on my afx but it works real good besides that’s all they had in 1964 lol besides you have over 22,000 miles on yours doesn’t seem to be an issue lol

  8. that's the same master cyl found on 64 thru 66 chevy & GMC trucks. It can be used on a tri five chevy car also. If you get one from a 3/4 ton truck it has a larger bore and gives you a better pedal.

Looks weird without the huffer. Not bad, jut weird like when you shave off that beard you've worn for 10 years.:D

Hopefully it will pick up some economy for you on the road, and stretch out the life of your blower as planned.

If you increase the master bore size, it will increase pedal effort. Now if you increase the wheel cylinder bore size, it will increase braking effort.

I like it. It's kind of like Plan II lite. Let's face it, you had to do something to slow it down and keep it in the 10's. Good luck at the track. I'm sure it will be fun.

Yeah if he leaves the blower off I might have a chance at outrunning him at George rays but I doubt it lol

  13. Yes that correct. however I always run a 3/4 master on my 1/2 ton trucks and never noticed any big difference. Of course I still have asbestos brake linings.

Just as long as you don't start taking bets BEFORE you put it back on!

You going to do that with the hood taped closed, just because you can?

not as Cool as Plan II by any means - just an idea if someone wants to get into racing 20190918_145404.jpg 20190918_145423.jpg

  20. I run the single master cylinder in my 66 chevelle. It's been there for 86,000 happy miles. If it fails I will down shift the four speed then hit the park brake.

been a long time since this thread saw any action...hmmm...

Where we left off, I was planning to go to George Ray's, in 2019. Turns out Brian couldn't make it, so I didn't go, either. I put the blower back on the car. Not much else happened with it until summer 2021, I made a few passes in Tucson, then getting fluids changed for Drag Week in August, I noticed the trans fluid was yucky, so I pulled it apart, and replaced the smoked 3rd gear clutch pack. Then I drove the car to Michigan for Drag Week, ran the week, finished 3rd (last) in my class, and drove home. 29,000 miles on the clock now. And some more passes on the log. It's up to 100 now!

On the way home from drag week 2021, last September:

Just found this thread, looked it all the way thru, Jim. Good to see and hear the story of your awesome car. I looked at the pics of your -(forgot what you called it) car. Very unusual! I sure love your Chevy II and Barracuda. I know you also have other cars. As I said you're my hero. It was great talking to you at 131.

A great read from start to finish, I really enjoyed the build and all the traveling and the racing Squirrel.
Deuces have always been one of my favorite car's, I guess that's why my first car at age 15 was a 66 Chevy II SS with many other Chevy II's from 1962 up to 1972 and I wished I still had at least one of them today, but all of them are long gone now...
Lots of good fun memories you have been making with your Chevy II Squirrel, I hope you make many many more memories in the year's to come in that sweet Red Chevy II.

Love both the Chevy II and the Cuda Jim , really enjoyed following the builds I would love to line the Shaker up against either for a match race, that would be fun if you ever come East or I make it out west, we have made it to Meltdown once ,but it is a 13 hour tow for us

    thanks!

Getting to Drag Week last year in Plan II was a three day drive...then coming home was a long two day drive...I wish they were only 13 hour hauls :)
