    I remember when this thing turned a 7.77 ET in 1964 :eek:, I thought it was a misprint!
    (Funny the things one remembers, but it really was a big deal at the time.)

    I didn't find your other post (man, you post a lot!), but the one shown is perhaps the earliest known picture of this particular car.

    Has anyone seen this one? Wondering if my late father's 57 coupe to Ranchero build survived.
    These are the only photos I have, I know it was completed and traded off for a motorcycle but was never seen again. FullSizeRender_1.jpg FullSizeRender_2.jpg FullSizeRender.jpg IMG_2187.jpg found the '69 and '70 registration cards where it went from coupe to truck!

    Hello,

    Ever since we saw black 1957 Ford at Lions Dragstrip with its Paxton Supercharger, they have had a space in our books. Over time, we have talked about Paxton Superchargers and thought about applying them to other motors. (like Junior Thompson’s Studebaker Sedan) But, the 1957-59 Ford Sedans and Rancheros were still in the picture. The Ranchero was mainly for the ability to carry the extra slicks, big tool box, spares for the 1940 Willys 671 SBC C/Gas Coupe and still have room for other items. In a worse case scenario, our hydraulic jack for emergencies.

    So, the Ranchero had it plus factors over the minus points. We have seen our share of Rancheros over the years and one just happened to be parked in front of my favorite machine shop. I needed some machining done that I could not do at home. So, a short drive later, they were willing to take on my project. But, out in front of the shop, a yellow 1959 Ford Ranchero was parked in all its original glory. (with a few extras)

    This one was owned by one of the machinists in the shop, as it was there a week later when I went back to get my finished project.

    It just looked like it may have stepped out of 1959 and had some conversions in the pickup bed for modern day activities. Perhaps a 21 speed mountain bike or an electric powered street cruiser? The low sides make it easy to pop in the bikes or equipment. Talk about warning the following drivers with brake lights? Need more lighting backing up for any reason? A couple of great ideas from the Ford Factory.
