Not all hot rods can pull the no hood look off but many more can, let's see what you got.

I've tried it a couple of times but none of my cars had a engine that looked good enough to drive around without a hood. HRP

Here is my Roadster and my 39. although the 39 will get its hood on, I just haven't done it yet, I kind of dig it with the hood off.

They made hoods for pre-‘35 Fords? Lol.
I’ve always thought a hot rod should have a “show off” engine and no hood or a half-hood. All my early Fords have been hoodless. A full hood can sure look good but it’s more resto-roddy to me.
No hood for my current project. IMG_2110.JPG

  8. After the headlight and aprons were put on I ran around without the hood for awhile but it just didn't look right without it. Looked bitchen from the driver seat tho. Assembly.JPG

My roadster. Have since replaced the plastic fuel lines with proper black ones.

Is there a thread for cars with FULL hoods? I'd like to add my opinion. Bob

When I was young and dumb I too removed my hood to show off a tri carb set up on a 56 Chevy. Now I won't even open my hood at a cruise in.

Who needs a hood when you have a Hemi to show off!

How about only hood sides? This was right after taking it through the mud at some dirt drags.

So far, almost all of the examples have been older cars. When I was in high school, there was a guy from a neighboring school who had an early '50's Pontiac with an Olds engine. The Olds had a six carb manifold on it, and each of the carburetors had a "frog mouth" scoop mounted on it. The inside of the scoops were painted a bright orange. The car was lowered quite a bit and he ran it with out a hood. There was something about, the stance, the open hood, the big engine, and especially the orange scoops that set my 15 year old heart racing.

I have a 25 louver hood for my roadster plus fenders, running boards and bumpers, but I think it does look best the way it is. You decide! IMG_1910.JPG IMG_6016.JPG RoadsterHoodOn 004.JPG
I think the motor has a lot to do with it.
My coupe on the other hand I think looks best with the hood on!

My old '34 with Deuce grill and stock '34 grill. My old '29 Tudor. I'm going to go hoodless on my current '34 once I replace the engine with something that I'd want to show off (blown 392, Nailhead or FE maybe)

  24. Mark sometimes less is more. Hoods, like wheels can be changed around to enjoy a different look. No hood, and caps looks a little more { Bad Boy };)
