    Hello,

My wife and I have been watching a nice series on TV called “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” It goes back to a time on the East Coast that portrays a very cool time in automobile history. Those 50’s cars were for us, since we grew up on the West Coast and got our driver’s licenses during this time period. These cars play an important part of the show as it sets the tone of the classic era.

We have watched Season 1 and were amazed at the terrific cars in the show. But, while watching a 2nd Season show, out pops this wonderful Red 1957 Plymouth Convertible for a long road trip in a Summer scene. The whole scene was reminiscent of us taking those road trips down Coast Highway or up to Santa Barbara during the same time period on the West Coast. As nice as that Plymouth Convertible was, they were not as popular as other brands in So Cal. (at least in our cruising grounds.)

The series scene was timely, as this Fall heat wave on the West Coast is causing all sorts of problems. But, watching this section of the show put those to rest. It is a comedy and the classic Plymouth Convertible on that breezy summer road trip, just hit the spot. The show is well written, the actors are outstanding and the whole thing is brought together in those classic 1950’s era society happenings, plus, adding in those cool cars.

What is not to like, classic dual fins, dual antennas, swoopy side design and quad headlights. But, as an avid hot rodder/drag race guy for style and design. I could not take my eye off of the misalignment of the door and fender of the best look, in the whole driving scene.

Some of the language is not for preteens or family as it was the era of Lenny Bruce’s comedy.

The F-word it can easily function as a verb, noun, pronoun, adjective, adverb, or interjection. As you see, there are very few words with the versatility of the F-word. As heard on this show…After all, it is... a comedy.

    1957 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible

“As for the show's vehicular tour de force? This gorgeous 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible. The hue is sort of like Revlon's Cherries in the Snow meets Fire and Ice, and it just works, on every single angular level. It's all lines and beauty and sharp edges. We see it on full display in season 2 as the ride of Midge's smitten new beau.”

“…Each car chosen for the show coveys a certain mood, or place in time. It helps give the character more layers that express his or her personality to the audience.”

"For example, a convertible will be chosen to indicate a beautiful summer day, a hardtop vehicle to indicate the shift in colder weather within our story."

“Choosing the Plymouth may as well be the vehicular manifestation of new love. The shot of Midge feeling the wind whip across her face while riding shotgun? Bliss at freeway speeds.”

  30. I saw a crested blue jay land in my yard, under my oak tree and peck around 'till he found a nice big fat acorn. Picked it up with his beak, tilted his head back and swallowed it whole! And did it 3 more times!!!
Must have sulfuric acid in their stomachs! Damn!
