Just picked up a 27 touring body. Plan is to put it in an a chassis with a hopped up banger. Anybody else running something similar. IMG_0837.JPG

That looks like a really nice body to start with and I like your direction. I would build it on an A frame with the A banger. Looks like you got all the doors with it too.

  3. You mean like this? The shiner paint on the running board and splash apron is the amount I lengthened them to work with the Model A wheelbase. 6-1/2" if I remember 20180319_145654.jpg 20170909_115252.jpg

  5. T Body's on Model A chassis were about as common as Model A's on 32 chassis back in the early days.

Grill shell sits a tad high but it worked for the look I was after,Just banged this together for a race meet.

That is one nice looking touring body. Complete running A chassis seem to show up on a fairly regular basis for not outlandish prices most of the time. That would be the makings of something fun.
The good part is that you can work on the body and get it all squared away before you find a chassis or a chassis finds you unless you already have one scored.

Photos From the summer. Flathead is starting to make some noise! And not exhaust noise! Maybe time for some help this winter.

Yes this body is super clean. One spot of rust on it but it came with a patch panel for it. All doors are there and operable. And yes I’m picking up an a frame and banger for it.

Yes this is one of the cleanest bodies I’ve seen. I’ve got a line on an A chassis right now just have to pick it up.

  18. Okay, I have a question. Out of the cars above cars above I understand that the V-8 ones can't run any form of stock Radiator's. The ones with Model A motors in them all appear to be running stock ones and in those including mine the Rad's are all taller then the 27 Cowell. Problem is the top tank extends back over the Fan. See photo.

For me that must be changed but I don't want a shop built aftermarket unit. My idea is to modify the tank and just take out 1-1/2" and make a brass oval hose fitting. That's easy enough however the 28-9 Grill Shell I would like to run will then need some work so it sits correctly on top of the new tank shape. This then brings issues with the Hood. it's the Snow Ball effect. I really don't want to clip the fan blades but clearly something has to give somewhere, or does it?
The two what appear to be full stock body including full hoods look to be correct in height. How did they get there? What's under the Hoods? I want this look with the A Shell being it's just Correct (height wise) without the Visa Card radiator. Is that possible?

  19. I had a rad built with a T top tank, A bottom tank, offset top hose, and a scallop to miss the fan. About £300 at a local radiator specialist. In eight years it's been absolutely no problem, so that's about tuppence a mile so far...

Worked well enough I had a second one built for the Coupe.

  21. Thanks for getting back Guys. I do have a beat up 27 Rad. I ruled it out just due to it's condition and that the A rad is a good one. Maybe I should visit cutting up the T unit, join the top tanks together. This project isn't on my front burner at the time but always looking for good info to work from. I just know for me that to p angle has to get changed. What about the extra hood length needed?
    Thanks again.

  22. Mine is a v8 60hp , no extra hood length need
Much smaller than an 85 hp flathead .

  23. I could change my car back to an original T in an afternoon . No modes to the body !!
Still have everything to change it back .
Was a restored car in the 70s when these modes were made .

  25. This sounded so easy I couldn't help but go check it out. Funny how things measure up. The stock 27 Rad is 1" overall shorter than the 28/29 Rad. although the Top tank is actually 1/2" taller than the A tank. The T tank is also a good bit wider front to back. I believe your Rad Shop did a fair amount of snip and trim to make what you have work for ya.
The Falcon Rad also needs a little surgery also to get the job done. Kind of back where I started but a bit more informed. Life goes on.

  27. A good way to get the 28-9 radiator to fit the T is to re-work the mount pad on the cross member. I was going to do this on my T but my body was already mounted up on the frame. JW
