Very sorry to here this. Vaya con Dios; respect and sorrow to the Family. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
I never met him but respected his advice and heeded it on several occasions. I found this quote this morning that I like regarding librarians that seemed fitting. "Adult librarians are like lazy bakers: their patrons want a jelly doughnut, so they give them a jelly doughnut. Children’s librarians are ambitious bakers: 'You like the jelly doughnut? I’ll get you a jelly doughnut. But you should try my cruller, too. My cruller is gonna blow your mind, kid.” ― John Green Thanks for opening and blowing our minds Librarian. Rest in peace Bruce.
Heartbreaking. I've read his posts many times over the years and spoke to him on occasion. RIP Bruce.
Count me in as one shocked and saddened by this news of a man I have never actually met. Like many others here have expressed, I have gotten much great info and advice from Bruce both directly to my own questions and through reading his answers to others'. Luckily the HAMB can serve as at least a partial archive of his vast knowledge. RIP Bruce, you are missed by many more than you realize.
Speedy this thread has changed to a memorial thread... @41fastback posted this last page and @SUHRsc has also started a thread in remembrance of the Late Hamber Bruce Lancaster... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/bruce-lancaster.1170248/page-5#post-13306417 Zach's thread below... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/bruce-lancaster.1171151/
It’s like something just knocked one of the H.A.M.B.’s corner stones out of the foundation... Great loss to his family, his friends and the world in general. God Speed. r Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
F@ck. I only read the first page or two and, didn't see further down on this thread that he'd passed. Thanks for letting me know. My thoughts are with his family even more so now. Appreciate you letting me know. Yeah... thanks for that.
The sad news that I never wanted to hear. We are all a little poorer today. Godspeed to you Bruce and prayers out to his Family and closest Friends. You will be terribly missed.
Godspeed Bruce... I remember your feedback through The Hamb... Always giving knowledge to the guys... Sent from my Mi A1 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I was out of town and away from my computer last week when this all first transpired and I just saw the posts tonight. I am absolutely devastated...like raven said, the HAMB has been shaken to its foundation. I feel like I have kicked in the guts... To Beth and the entire Lancaster family, please accept my deepest, heartfelt condolences. Bruce was an amazing man and a true blessing and gift to anyone that had the good fortune to know him or even interact with him. We are are all better for having know him, and now we are a little lesser for having lost him. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. Godspeed Bruce! I look forward to seeing you on the other side someday. God's blessings to all. Steve
I'm really saddened by this terrible news. Never met the man but when I saw a thread or post by Bruce I knew it would be gold plated. A true gentleman scholar as a posted a few pages back. A library has indeed been lost. I hope Beth and th Ernest of his family know how highly he was regarded and the esteem people had for him. I sure wish I had PM'd him on any little thing as his response would have been a treasure. No doubt he is already administering knowledge to one and all in the after life! I think I'll search for his threads/posts and re-read.
I am very sorry to hear this. Rest eternal grant unto Bruce, O Lord And let light perpetual shine upon him. May he rest in peace and rise in glory. Bruce was one of the sane ones; there seemed to be a drama-free bubble around him. He will be missed.
Bruce helped me a couple of times. I always knew when his name was on a reply it was good information!
