looks like Brian and 1933_willys_77 cut a light on me. That is what some people called the "new" 396/427 chevy engine and or porcupine head engine LOL because of the valve arrangement.
Another batch from SD. and NE. To answer Loveoftiki's question, some tracks still operate and some are gone. Cornhusker Raceway has been closed for years, while Thunder Valley Dragways just celebrated their 51st year of operation. TVD is still run by its builder and sole owner Glen Rapp, and I have included a photo of their Class Winner Decals from when TVD first opened in 67.
Here are a few of my friend Kenny Hayn from Elmhurst NY circa 1963 this was street driven then race only. I think D/G Pat
I suspect they were adopting the SEMI HEMI phrase found on CKC Racing’s fastback Nova built by Bill Thomas.
Meltdown posted a 55 with the “Semi Hemi” graphic on it and enquiered about it. The CKC Nova is probably where that phrase originated as it had the graphic on the fenders as well as the “427”and “Mystery Engine” signage and was probably where the builder of the 55 got the inspiration to apply a similar graphic..
Cherry & sons 55 was purchased by one Charles Carpenter of Charlotte NC. Became one of the most iconic 55’s ever. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Love the 56 Ford hardtop! The hood scoop makes it a early 70's build's at least, but that's my era anyhow! Wonder if she has a Six Pack! lol Larry
