Thanks for the good words. I really have no intentions of going that direction with it. Skirts and my engine work. Then some subtle this and that’s going forward. Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
Boy I wouldn't mold the rear fenders but what do I know. Leave it be but add your skirts, then it should be the bitchinest 40 in the black hills!
Yea. That’s much farther than I ever planned. Not a big fan of the molded look. If I ever went “crazy” with it I’d shave the tails and add some in the bumperettes.
I’ve tried to build this car as it’s the 40s. It’s my dads car. And I take it on the weeknights and cruise it. Do some things to it that he is really upset about (lower it, split the exhaust) but eventually thinks is cool and enjoys it. If that makes sense.
Got these two back yesterday. Rebuilt, re jetted, and ready. I better get back to Pierre and get that intake.
Got the old book out for some light reading as I torqued down the freshly cut head. Kinda wishing I would have taken a bit more off, really tested them 79 year old rings.
I really like it, it doesn't look much different than my 1st car ('40 Plymouth). It had a Dodge truck engine and I split the exhaust and milled the head. Was a fun car but noisy.
I like the build. Won't the Dodge truck intake be too short? Pretty sure Dodge and Plymouth blocks aren't as long as the Chrysler, unless that Dodge truck used the Chrysler block, or maybe you're planning to extend it? I hope it works, somehow.
Full size dodge trucks had a 25” block. Same as a Chrysler Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I never noticed the odd back window with the flat glass in these cars before. Were the big coupes all this way or did this one roll down or something?
I like what you have done with the car. Did you notice much of a performance improvement from shaving the head? 15 years ago, I had the opportunity to buy a 40 Chrysler Convertible. It also had the overdrive and I liked it enough that I would have bought it. The price was right, but my wife did not like the car, and even though she gave no reason, I knew that she would never change her mind. It was a pity, because it was the only one I have ever seen. I still think about it. Bob
The Chrysler has a 25” block. Plymouth and dodge have a 23”. But some full size dodge trucks had a 25” with factory dual intake and exhaust
Loving this build, but then again I may be a bit Mopar biased, or 40 Chrysler biased. Keep up the great work!
Memories...........my father had a ‘41 Chrysler back in 1951-1952. I was about 5 yrs. old. It was a 4 dr.
I’ve spent a bunch of time trying to find a kool air cleaner. Didn’t want to spend a ton on some early aftermarket piece. I used a stock’35-‘36 Ford , Sectioned a bit out of the middle. Added some perforated steel. Nothing over the top, just a little custom. Now I just need another.
