I purchased 4 new wheel cylinders and a new master cylinder for my '46 Ford coupe. I noticed that there might be a place for a return brake pedal spring. There was no return spring on on the pedal when I disassembled it. Is there a need for a return spring?
    Thanks, Mike

If you have access to the "Green Book", on page 54 there is a diagram of the spring which attaches to the pin that goes through the front of the brake pedal. On my 46 Merc the spring goes forward and attaches to a clip that bolts on to one of the oil pan bolts. I had to make a clip for mine. No big deal, just a piece of flat stock with a hole for the pan bolt and another to hook the spring in. The spring part number is 01A-2456 in the diagram. Van Pelt has them listed in his catalogue for $2.50. Hope this helps.
