New Banger block in the works.

Here are the pictures of the first B head samples. One of the deck side and one of the top of the other. These are right out of the sand before clean up, heat treat, and shot blast.

These two heads are aluminum and are not spoken for yet. If someone is interested, let me know. I have 4 or 5 iron ones to make asap.

I've sort of lost touch on the aluminum block is it still going to happen? If so when do you figure they will be available roughly?

Yes, the aluminum blocks are happening. I have a 3 main in the machine that may need a home. I have a 5 main sample that is going to be replaced with a block from the new sand process, and it will need a home eventually. The next block to get machined belongs to crazydaddyo.

Let's not get carried away. This is my job, so it is nothing special. Once I get the Model A blocks going I hope to get my new 8BA V8 underway.

Thanks, found a bunch of info over on ford barn. Interesting subject. Sold my 30 coupe almost 30 years ago, there wasn't much information back then before the www. Got a 28 coupe now and we're going to have some fun with this 4 banger. Thanks to you and others making new speed equipment for them. I talked with the guy that does the Burns intakes at Hershey very helpful and lots of good tips. Of course I now have one of his setups. In the process of replacing the matching number motor with a mule motor so I can go through it.

 

Inquiring minds want to know. Why put 283 pistons in a Model A?

 

They fit almost perfectly for one. Main reasons: shorter skirt, lighter, and they use modern rings.

 

Also (usually!) stronger , &, when you buy a set , you can do 2 Model "A" motors! LOL!

Are they using the model A rod?

 

Yes but you have to Bush the small end for the difference in pin size. Snyders is supposed to sell a rod that works out of the box but I haven't checked into it yet.

This is not the one that I am making from the newest process. That will be made soon. I was ready to take sand to the foundry but the owner had to go out of town. The new process will be nicer.

OK, here we go with the first aluminum 5 main block just out of the sand. After talking to the foundry, it sounds like I need to provide for chilling a few spots, but for the first attempt in a new molding and pouring method, I think it looks pretty good. Can only get better from here on.
