Does anyone know what year or model that the 153 valve cover had Chevy stamped on them. I've owned three 1962 to 1965 4 cyl Cevy II engines but all were Canadian and base models. Never seen one till lately. Would somebody have a good closeup picture of one so I could copy the script. Don.
Thank you that's the clearest one I've seen. I should be able to copy it no problem. Thanks again. Don
Glad to help! It really isn't as nice as it looks in the picture. It has some rust pits that look unusual for a rocker cover. I don't know where it came from but it's "cute".
Here is mine that I have been saving for a future project. It is a 1962 version, the only one with a generator.
I just saw this Weber intake on another site. http://www.inliners.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=95335#Post95335
From my track T build 15 years ago using a Clifford 6=8 intake. I used 44 mm DCOE. Looks a lot like the "new" one in posted link
Try this: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/how-to-post-images-on-a-thread.922350/ If that doesn't work post the hardware and software you are using. Such as Canon Camera, MAC computer and "photos" software. Charlie Stephens
I'm old fashioned, I use a laptop. I can just drag pictures from my desk top to the post. One of the best features of the H.A.M.B. You don't need an online host site.
Incase anyone is looking or interested, i have an Algon fuel injector for the 153" 4 cylinder. I'm in the middle of cleaning it up, and it'll be listed for sale when i'm done with it.
Other than bored .040 over it's mostly stock. Got a hei and 350 2 barrel. With the truck weighing 2250 lbs. it puts it down the road great.
That is what I wanted to hear. Mine is going together now. Some friends have been kicking my lazy ass and are helping me get my roadster together. Mine has quite a few modifications.
12 Bolt Tom built my head and I got my pistons from him. I have one of his side covers and may get a valve cover. My plans to make one keep getting too involved.
Are there any differences between the 153 and 181 engine block that would make my using my 153 block for mock-up, building motor mounts and positioning components a mistake? I'm currently looking for a useable 181 but....
Not that I can think of. That is not to say they might have changed something over the years that I didn't pick up on. My AVATAR has had both over the years. In the 181 be sure to change the cam if it came from a marine or industrial engine. Charlie Stephens
Thank you. Is the longer stroke of the 181 created by a different crankshaft or longer rods on a 153 crank? If the crank is different i'll need the 181 block and crank.
Yep they are the same hope to have mine on the road next summer Richard I have been told the 153 is half a 283 and.the 181 is half a 327 I know the Boer is bigger on 181 has 3 different heads and the ports are bigger
The 153 has a 3.875" bore and a 3.25" stroke. It is 1/2 of a 305 V8 and 2/3 of a 230 L6. The 181 has a 4" bore and a 3.60" stroke. The 350 has a 3.48" stroke so the 181 is more than 1/2 of a 350 which would be 175". My .040" over 153 with a 181 crank is a little over 173. Close to 1/2 of a 350. .060 over would be 177+. You can't change the stroke by changing the rods. Have to change the throw in some way.
