    I go
Not a big movie-goer myself - maybe once every 5 years. But I bet you would enjoy this one.

Nowadays you buy your ticket with a Cineplex app and use your e-ticket on your iphone to get into the movie. At first I hated it but now it makes sense. No more standing in line wondering if your going to get in or not. We have our seats reserved for a 7.00 pm cheap ($11.50 ?) Tuesday show.

I saw it last night and think it was darn good. Even if you werent a car guy (or gal) you could enjoy it. It was a pretty straight forward movie without a lot of the usual crap that ruins so many movies Hollywood makes today. I dont know the details about those types of race cars but with a few exceptions they did a decent job of having the correct years of cars in the backgrounds.
I really got a kick out of the line Miles said about Mustangs/Chevelles. Im sure the Pony guys that show up in droves to see the show wont like it!

That $4.00 in 1981 was equivalent to about $12.00 today, so the price for seeing a movie hasn't changed much.

  11. I wonder if the film is appropriate for a 9-year old boy. My son would love to see it since he saw the trailer on Youtube.

My Son, DIL, Graandaughter, her fiance, and I all went to see it together last night after a good meal at a Thai restaurant, all as a B'day gift for me (82). We had great seats and it was a helluva good movie, we all 5 agreed. All also agreed that the role of Carroll Shelby was miscast, as Matt Damon just ain't big enough or mean looking enough to fit the role of C.S.
Having spent a few years in the past driving dirt ovals I found the racing action and sounds more realistic by far than that of most Hollywood racing movies.

Cineplex / Odeon is a multi national movie theatre operator. They pretty much run all the movie theatres in the US and Canada, except for a few independents. You can also print your tickets off at home if you dont have an iphone, that is if you have a printer.

Saw this last night as a birthday gift from my future son in law. My wife and daughter as well as his parents went and we all liked it. A little something in it for everyone with some good racing footage. From what I have read no CGI either. Loved the concept of the quick change brakes. And even though some of the characters may not be perfectly casted or represented, I recommend seeing the movie. Highly entertaining.

  16. I would not hesitate to take my son at that age. Some of the stuff might be over his head but it doesn't have any of the crap most movies seem to contain now a days.

Take your son. The role of a young fellow is well done and important.

My wife and I went tonight with the boys and we enjoyed the movie.

Have always been a Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby fan so it was great to watch the movie.

Last Thursday saw the movie with family and we all enjoyed it. Well worth my $7 (2 or 3 times that with popcorn and soda), but still very worthwhile.

I think I recall a couple of f-bombs, but seemed appropriate in context; not gratuitous, every two sentences as in lots of new movies. I share your concern, but realistically, I'm sure your son hears that dozens of times a day. Otherwise, I don't think there was any sex references or scenes.

I saw the IMAX version today Saturday Morning. There is a story to be told, and in 2.5 hours the movie tries. The Ken Miles performance is great. Matt Damon definitely does not look like Carroll Shelby. There were a lot of real Shelby cars used in the film. There were also 350 CGI technicians used to make the not real Shelby's. I'm old enough to have seen "Le Mans" in a drive-in movie so I know great camera work when I see it. In Ford V Ferrari, much of the Le Mans camera work is simply poor and insulting. Got to have that star close-up I guess. What Ford V Ferrari really needs is a director like the late John Frankenheimer, a real action film man. What the public needs is a couple caffeine pills, a large bag of popcorn and a soft drink. See the IMAX version and go early.

Rachel and I just saw it today on the big XL screen and we both loved it. It's a great movie to see in the theater with the big theater sound, worth the ticket for sure.

I personally thought it was great, I liked all of the actors in it (although Christian Bale was particularly good) and I didn't notice any CGI Hollywood bullshit. There was a handful of non-period-perfect touches I noticed that I'm a stickler for but nothing that would spoil the movie. I don't think it would be inappropriate for a young viewer.

My recommendation is to go and watch it, it's great. Remember it's just a movie, but it's a damn good one. I was not disappointed.

I was left with one puzzling question. Where did they get all those light blue Falcons on the Ford assembly line?

Well, since Gurney didn't race until the NEXT year, the Gurney bubble didn't even exist yet. But Phil Remington was the guy who formed it.

My son, his friend, and I saw it this afternoon. Went for the IMAX experience. Tried the reserve on line system, printed the tickets, and no worries about getting a good seat. We all thought the it was great. The only vehicle flaw was what I think was a front of a TR6 fender in the racetrack scene at the beginning of the show, (TR6s didn't show up until '69), and I WAS looking. If there was any CGI I really didn't notice so it must have been done well. Remember this was not a documentary so even though Matt Damon wasn't a carbon copy of Carrol Shelby, and most people probably wouldn't notice anyway, he did a good job. And Christian Bale couldn't be the only star to convince the money boys to bankroll the production.

The only complaint, and it more of an annoyance really, was the lack of aerial photography. There was tiny bit near the end of the show at the tight corner turn but I wish there was more, I think it would have added to the tension.

We gave it six thumbs up!

I heard that Thursday night the local Mustang club booked an entire theater in Des Moines and had the pictured GT parked in the lobby.
I would have loved to have heard their reaction to Ken Miles comparison of the new Mustang to brand X

  30. Thoroughly enjoyed the movie on Friday ... so much so that we are seeing it in IMAX on Sunday.

Also, really enjoyed this interview with C.S.:
