I believe that the chrome is painted black

 

Jason some great pics. A number of them are from the 68 U.S. Nationals. The first pic of the black 57 with silver coves looks very familiar but I cannot remember whose car it was. I am pretty sure he ran at the Detroit area tracks in 67-69 era. Also really like the black 62. Cool pics.

Jason Nemesis is the solid axle with a 61/62 rear clip and a 57 front clip. Not sure of the details of the car. As to the others
Larry Forstall's 62-this pic is when he ran Indy in 68.

Jim Elliott out of Ohio in The Stinger. Soon after to be named Apricot Brandy.

Eddie Wilson out of Seneca NY in his 62 that won cl*** at 68 Nats (E/SP). Also won 69 Winternats.


Mark Werner's "The Redskin" out of Frankfort Indiana.



Louis Sinisgalli out of Rochester NY-Indy 68.



Mauri Rose Jr out of Michigan with his 59. He ran many big events including Indy 68 but I believe this picture of him is Sanair Quebec in 72.

 

Considering the location that wing would be better served used as skis, and the rear tires are either pie crust slicks or studded snow tires.
I remember seeing photos in magazines when I was a kid in the 60's showing snow on the sides of the drag strip at Alaskas' Polar Raceway thinking "do they actually hold drag races there".

 

Maybe not but dual quads and a blower do....
