Ford 427 SOHC engines

Ditto, very well done and it weighs 1/2 an original 427 I have faux Olds rocker covers on my SBC

 

Wish I could make my dog (coyote) look that good.... Just low on funds.....
Plus I don't think Ford would get a kick out of it if I had to bring the car in for warranty work....

 

Holman Moody....lets make a deal on a SOCH motor...

I was just looking through the #2 issue of Rod Action September 1972 and Holman & Moody had an ad listing the SOHC for $1950

 

..................Wish I had bought a few.

 

Must have had a couple variations on cam covers. Ford logo on some, plain fins on others.

Not to mention the prototype/first run with the spark plugs on the low side of the head.

 

Then there are these.


The see-through cam cover reveals a single cam layout head with beefy valvetrain and 6-foot roller chain. Without pushrods or lifters, the free-breathing Hemi Cammer safely makes power to 7,500 rpm

Sneaky Pete Robinson was not a fan of the 427 Cammer's timing chain.

 

Heres the whole picture. Mickey Thompsons Mach 1 chassis. Car was an absolute terror in the 1969 season.

Stopped by Barillaro's shop and got a close look at this piece of history today.

 

Is the Chrisman '65 Cyclone there also? I know Mr. Barillaro had it before he passed.

 

The Barillaro brothers still have it , but its not at the shop now.

Who would have thought that by the 90s nearly every car on the road would have at least one OHC.

I wonder if those fender badges are still available?

In 1976, I bought mine used, for $1500. It came with extra cam bearings, some front cover parts and the stock cams and pistons. And the manual.
