Folks Of Interest Are you happy with your Hot Rod or Custom?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Dec 17, 2019.

  1. 20171201_121533.jpg 20160901_105351.jpg You know Danny, I hardly ever drove my 36 sedan so down the road she went even though I really liked that old Ford. As for my 36 Chevy pickup, now I really like this one, have owned it for 41 years but recently my wife cant ride in it because she is claustrophobic. It is kind of small inside so I cut her some slack. As much as I love this truck, I'm afraid is time to slide it over to my son and "BUY" a car more to the liking of the boss lady. The 25 Dodge in the garage awaiting work did'nt get the nod so hopefully something catches my eye and makes me feel all soft and fuzzy because it's too late to get my Ford back. Mitch

I'm happy with my car but if I ever get a chance to get a Hot Rod from the "Rolling Bones" I will jump on it. IMG_1552.jpg

  4. I drove my Vicky for over 25 years. Every year when we came home from Louisville my wife would ask, "did you see anything you would rather have?" Nope, love the Vic.

Finally it got to the point (140k miles) that it needed a freshen up. So I sent it down the road.

Current ride , avatar, had for seven years. Rolled up 50k miles. Must say I like it. Probably don't love it. Will continue to drive it until I retire from rodding.

Yes, usually provides Happy Days - sometimes it burns me up when things do not go right -but, at the end of the day I am always looking 20191217_190049.jpg 20191217_190617.jpg 20191217_190914.jpg

IMG_2050.JPG Very happy with my old 57. I just keep on tweaking on it and it usually goes a little quicker.

  10. The only time I'm really happy with my cars is when I see the new owners ass in the driver seat, or I'm cutting a finished one up. The one means I just got the cash to start a new build, and the other means I've now got a bunch of known parts to start a new build. Driving a finished car just takes my time away from building a new car.

I love the cars and trucks I have. But they're never done. They've all got things that I want to work on. I have a dry erase board in the garage that I write down the things that I want to change on each one. I never run out of work...

I miss the excitement of starting a new project. Yes its my choice but age does change your priorities.
I am content in keeping the ones I have on the road.

An exciting time years ago bringing in the basketcase pickup into my new garage.

  13. I will be happier with mine when I finish redoing it in a style/era that I like. It is the most fun car to drive that I have ever had.

I like all three of mine. The 40 Coupe I have had the longest at 54 years. Just recently I was able to sell my black 32 5 window glass car and purchase a Henry all steel 32 five window. My dream car! I feel blessed now and at age 72 will just enjoy them all. The Nova is my wife's car. IMG_0833.JPG 72426720_10216690939690110_671912470561947648_o.jpg

  15. Bill, I drove my old beater for 31 years with no interior and you know as well as I that it doesn't matter, I installed a interior this year along with heat and it's made a big difference since the cold weather has set in. HRP

I've had the Nomad 29 years next month and I am very happy every time I get behind the wheel, which is a lot! I'm also happy with the '40, fun to drive. I cannot think of anything I'd rather have than these two cars, which are IMG_20170301_162544.jpg 20190913_105120-1.jpg my two "bucket list" cars.

I am happy with both cars in the avatar, I've had the 38 since the 70's, it's been two colors (the current paint job is from the early 80's) and the trim job is from the early 80's, the Stude? well since it's only been fired once (and did back itself into the garage:) and the interior is not done....ya need seats to drive I hope I like it as much. I suspect it won't ride great (chopped coils and lowering blocks) but I am anxious to get it driveable and have some nice days in early spring to drive it. Note....if you are interested in either car they will be for sale as I go to room temperature:) IMG_2604.JPG

I love my wagon 2.0 (first one I sold to get a woodie project) and I do not plan to sell this one unless the right woodie came along (49 chevy or 49-51 ford Woodie I could afford). but I would sell my 51 hardtop or 68 impala convert as these are not the ultimate cars I would like to own. Cant afford the cars I would like at this time. 541 by Joel.jpg

I have managed to get, and rebuild my way,..... my dream car pictured at the left. Short answer to your inquiry is an exuberant, " you damn betcha I am." :D:):D But am I satisfied with it. No. ;) We all know, the " They' are never done" , syndrome that rides with almost all of them, and mine is exactly in that condition as I pen this. Pretty sure it will still be that way when my time is up also.

Love the Hudson and the roadster. Always something to do on them though. The roadster could ride better in the back so that is on the agenda. The Hudson is the long distance car for me now at 71 and the roadster more for local stuff or strictly hot rod events. The Riviera I am falling out of love with and that could be replaced.
